It seems like it's all over the place. I suppose it's because I'm not stopping the pump at the same place every time.

I was shocked on how fast mine goes thought the fuel. Drive up to Skykomish and around Index and that's a half of tank. I haven't driven the LMTV much this year but just looked and filled it last September and it still have over 1/2 a tank... and it's been on the same Sunday drive a few time since. Granted the tank is twice as big as the my HMMWV.

I do enjoy driving the LMTV but every little thing I do to the HMMWV it gets nicer to drive.

I pretty much gave up trying to keep track of mileage in mine. Half the time I drive it it's either short trips, towing trailers, driving off road, or going through parades and such, so it isn't going to be consistent anyway.
The few times I did keep track, it was between 11 and 12mpg for just city and highway driving.

Hello everyone. I just changed oil and greased the M1097R. But I have a question I’m sure it was brought up before, But I’m looking through the TM’s and I can’t seem to find the ones for the M1097R, So I have been following the M998 one. My question is I’m getting ready to change the transmission fluid transfer case. The TM shows Dexron 2 which I know to use what GM calls for now to use for that. But online I’m seeing not to use Dextron but to use AC Delco 10-4033 in the transfer case on the M1097R . Am I safe to follow the old M998 Dextron or switch. Thank you

That last time I read my TM it said Dexron III, which is near impossible to find. After asking others here, I have been using DexMerc without any noticeable issue.

The M1097R is a recapitalization program truck, upgraded from a different version into a heavy variant. Not an actual factory variant of the truck.
If yours has a 3 speed, use M1097A1 in the manuals.
If yours has a 4 speed, use M1097A2 in the manuals.

Anywhere it says DEX II use DEX III. It replaced DEX II for all applications.

In the transmission you can use DEX VI, but not for the transfer case or power steering, as GM had a higher rate of failure in those applications for DEX VI. You can still use it if you want and it will operate fine, but may shorten the life of the components.

AC Delco 10-4033 , which is GM 88861800, is just repackaged DEX III for the places where GM had higher failure rates (manual gearboxes and transfer cases) after switching to DEX VI.

Snippet from the GM Bulletin.

bulletin - #04-07-30-037E: Release of DEXRON-VI Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF) - (Apr 7, 2011):

"MANUAL TRANSMISSIONS / TRANSFER CASES and POWER STEERING

The content of this bulletin does not apply to manual transmissions or transfer cases. Any vehicle that previously required DEXRON®-III for a manual transmission or transfer case should now use P/N 88861800. This fluid is labeled Manual Transmission and Transfer Case Fluid. Some manual transmissions and transfer cases require a different fluid. Appropriate references should be checked when servicing any of these components.
