Well....me and Elmo made it back to the LZ unscathed.

Elmo made friends with one of the Delta flight attendents on the way back.

He rode from Memphis to Birmingham with her in the galley.

I can neither confirm nor deny that he joined the "Mile High Club".

I do know when he rejoined me he had a set of Delta wings pinned to his ear.

His new motto is "Delta is ready when you are".

He gets more action than I do.

I can do a few. Left to right. dunno, Ron (73m819), pretty girl, Cabell (cgarbee) behind pretty girl, dunno, dunno, dunno, Ziggy and Richard. For those of you I have met and called you dunno, sorry. I'm not good with names and faces.
The pretty gal is ZiggyO's little sister......she is now an official Steel Soldier member......GreenIronPrincess.

She drove one of the support vehicles and is a real trooper......Elmo was smitten with her but carnal desires overcame him and he had his way with that floozy chicken.

I will leave it to Ziggy to provide details of the mission that he sees fit to declassify and provide the names of his support guys.

I had a great time and met some good folks but it took a lot out of me.......prob be a while before I jump on another mission of this magnitude

You know Wreckerman, you sure have changed Elmo's life! He was all alone, lost in the creek at your place. Now he is roaming our great nation with a new adventure around every curve. He has been getting a real education.....

Yeah - It's kinda like the BIG BROTHER & BIG SISTER PROGRAM where kids without an adult figure in their lives get wholesome mentoriing.....

Elmo's trying his best to raise Richard right !

So did the air marshall give you a funny look when you asked her to take a pic with Elmo?

By now, I'm guessing, all of the co-conspirators have returned to their respective LZ's. Hope all had safe and uneventful travels.

Good Job, Lady, Possum, and gentlemen [thumbzup] Get yourselve some R&R and maybe an orientel massage for your "Deuce Butts".

Wrong!!!
old truck stop, on old road, try asking first before thinking
Good grief Ron. What's got the burr under your saddle.

All I was doing was playing along with the guessing game here. After all, that's what the entire tease thread is all about.

Chill out!

I usually worry when Ron or Wreckerman are on a mission and when they are together...:shock:.

All seriousness aside though, I'm glad Murphy stayed here in GA and gave the crew enough time to "Git er Done"!!!

Since there were no known reports of UFOs along the route, I'm assuming Ron did not use his "flying truck" routine anywhere along the way.

I think we should offer a WELL DONE to all the troops involved...even Wreckerman:-o

The mission went mostly as planned....early on we had some tire issues that cost us time and milage the first day.

The vehicles performed almost flawlessly...only had to change fuel filters on the deuce one time. The M915's ran great and held speed when needed......I didn't keep close track of milage on my truck but I estimate that it was getting around 6 mpg, prob due to the fact we were following the tactical vehicles and our RPM stayed around 1800.....that is fuel sipping speed for a 400 Cummins.

The M-816 also ran consistantly even though it was piloted by a novice driver.....who by the way became a real hand by the time we go to the new LZ.

ZiggyO did a great job as Convoy Commander...the radios he provided were instrumental in keeping the drivers informed as to stops or quick changes in plans. He was the lead dog and we just followed along like a string of baby ducks. We were well fed and had great accomadations before, during and after the trip.

We had excellent comradire the whole trip and even though we had late hours a couple of days folks managed to be civil for the most part. There is a rumor that the old guy with the possum got grouchy a few times but I deny everything and demand proof.

Except for my bad knee I did fine, I was worried about the heat ( I don't tolerate heat well) but the weather cooperated...we had enough rain along the route that it stayed cool with the breeze blowing through the windows. It was actually cool when we got the the destination.....I had to put on my ACU top to keep from getting a chill.

It was said I provided comic relief and entertainment for the journey....if so it was my pleasure to entertain and be entertained.

Elmo was.......well he was Elmo....you have seen the pictures.

He's stitting on the back of the recliner now with a possum grin on his face.....no doubt reliving his sordid adventures. I think he was smitten with GreenIronPrincess.....maybe if he had been a better behaved possum she would have scratched him behind the ears.

I want to thank ZiggyO for allowing me (and Elmo) to make this epic journey across America. It was a paid vaccation and allowed me to relive some of the days of my misspent youth when I was a young Specialist in the Army.
