A NP 241 from a '95 to 2000 2500 Chevy or GMC w/ 4L80 trans Will bolt right into cucvII the only dimensional difference is the 241 being approx 3/4" shorter overall which 98% of the time is not an issue . Rarely, rear shaft length might come up a bit short to properly engage the TC output...
205s are definitely tough ,but, to put one in a cucvII with driver side front shaft you would have to start with a ford unit ,machine the input hole for large chevy input ,use a "clocking ring " between trans and T-case and have custom length shafts made . Been there ,done that .
4401 replacement
4401s come with either a bolt on rear yoke or a slip yoke . I,m not familiar with the ones in the cuvcs . I have some here to compare ,but if memory serves a common NP 241 is a direct replacement and holds up as good if not better despite being rated as lighter duty . If you...
How are you set for driveline parts ? I've got a complete 57K3498 tranfer case conversion kit ,242 tcase, rear shaft, rear section of front shaft, diff yoke,& assorted small parts. All are new and unissued "in the crate."

Like most things , it gets easier with practice. Heed the safety warnings concerning the chemicals involved start off small until you a comfortable with all the details . the stuff I brew works well down to the single digit temps.
I would bet on rear diff issues. pull the cover and check the condition and quanity of lube (or lack of). With the driveshaft held from moving the ring gear should only move about .010 .(the thicknessof a match pack). Too much play or gouges/scratches on thegear teeth are signs of trouble...
There are 24 V regulators available for about any style delco alt. The last one I did cost about $20 at a local electrical shop.changing one out is relatively easy if you are mechanically inclined.
check out Car-Part.com. the closest 6.2 flywheel listed to NJ isin carlisle Pa.@ $100 most of the yards who list there will be more than happy to ship. If you strike out there I've got 1 or two that I can check for condition .
that article was reprinted in an advance adapters 4500 conversion brochure #nv001 .a call to AD failed to come up any reprints. I know Ihave the info around here in this mess someplace. just gotta find it.
