A couple of members sell a conversion setup from the single canister filter to a twin spin-on setup with new hoses from the tank to the filters and from the filters to the primer/lift pump. Just hit the For Sale classified section of the forums
Also make sure the tires have proper highway pressure as a low tire will be much more prone to a blowout due to the increased heat buildup from the sidewall flexing more.
Most likely the batteries are unable to provide anything beyond surface voltage. Pull the 4 batteries and install 2 known good fully charged batteries. Then you can try individually charging the old batteries and then have them load tested. My bet is they will fail the load test.
Along with what M35A2-AZ said I would for testing purposes REMOVE the shutdown fuel solenoid and physically make sure the fuel shutoff is completely rotated into the "run" position.
Yes the M939 series trucks are reliable. I assume you have a way to get the hay bales up into the bed of the truck besides just manually lifting them because the bed height is quite high (along with pretty much ALL of the Military cargo type trucks...Not including the pickup sized trucks in...
probably miss wired before you got it. If you want to double check here is the correct wiring info:
Wire # 17 is the High beam, #18 is the Low beam and #91 is the ground
You should pickup fuel filters and some diesel fuel conditioner. As for using Air from the truck's system you will need an Air hose with a gladhand on one end and air tool coupling on the other that fits your air tools.
