I'll do some troubleshooting tomorrow. Doghead attached a link to a tutorial about fan clutches so I learned something but it also raised another question - is this one a non-thermal or thermal fan clutch?
This unit has been my DD for 3 years now. Cabin heat has never been anything to brag...
To bad re: fan clutch being non serviceable.
The cooling system has not been power flushed - drained and fresh fill only. They may well be cruddy.
My first impulse is overcooling because after driving 30 miles at 55 mph in 15 to 20 degree ambient temp the radiator, hoses and engine are what I...
Last winter the M1009 cab did not warm up too well. This winter it was worse. I could drive the 30 miles to town at 55 MPH in 25 degree weather and the radiator and hoses were barely warm.
Replaced the thermostat with the correct 195 deg hockey puck and that made a very small difference but...
I mounted an old style pioneer tool rack in my M1009. It is in the cargo area, left side, between the window and wheel well arch. I bolted sections of 1" angle iron to the ends of the tool rack and bolted thru the angle iron to the vehicle. The upper is bolted thru the body flange below the...
Question: if the metal shells on Douglas connectors are removed, will Douglas and Packard connectors.....connect?
I do not have any Douglas stuff on hand to test. Asking because I may end up buying a trailer harness with Douglas and the intervehicular cable has Packard.
Thanks
Jim
Over the last few years the local semi truck owner/operators seem to be competeting on who can install the largest pipes.
I'm waiting for one of them to show up with 14" corrugated culvert sections. Then the next guy will raise the ante with brick and mortar chimneys on his truck.
The big...
Someone's search fu is weak
A lot of my stuff is weak these days....but I did manage to find imarksweb. I drilled down a ways and saw something about "you may cancel subscription at any time" which led me to believe they wanted some $.
Plus it appeared that english was a second language...
That was the original plan. Purpose of the thread was to find out if there is enough clearance between the inner and outer skins of the cab roof for a rivet nut.

Jim
The light is about 1.5" thick with a .25" flange around the center. Result is a .75" gap between the mounting flange on the surface you want to mount to. I was going to use bushings to fill this gap. Don't think pop rivits will work.
Thanks
Jim
Just read that myself - thanks. Drilling a small hole and the probing for depth is a good idea.
Another option might be to attach an 'L' shaped bracket close to the ceiling using the bolts which connect the rear cover to the cab roof. Mount the light to the bracket.

Very similar to the photo except that the cage is square tubing and completely boxes the genset. It is green.
Calcium carbonate is good. Avoid the ones with aluminum salts.

This is not a military genset so delete the thread if it causes heartburn.
I made an impulse buy of a Coleman Series 54, Model 544000 4kW genset. Local seller, had it wrapped up in a tarp, uncovered it, poured in some gas and it started on the second pull and would run a light and power saw...
Want to install an APC dome light in the M1009. Dome light hole spacing is too wide for it to fit directly to the deep section of the ceiling between the sheet metal cab roof and the fiberglass rear roof. Looks like I will install it more in the center of the cab ceiling.
Question: The...
My Pioneer Tool Trailer was transferred from the feds to a county govt. The county removed the box and used the frame. I bought the box.
There were no tools or genset in the box. It did contain a seven page document titled:
COMPONENT SUB-HAND RECEIPT
TOOL OUTFIT, PIONEER, PORTABLE ELECTRIC...

The brackets are still in place in my trailer. Do not recall how they are attached to the floor. What I'd like to have are the reels and their axles/shafts. Power cable would be nice but not required.
The parts list (form is labeled "Hand Receipt") was in the box when I bought it. It...
