    AB-558 Antenna Base

Yup - looking for an easy way to run a CB. Found several threads on the topic and the use of MS-xx and AB-xx mast sections to get proper length. Could not find any info on the AB-558 base which looks like it should bolt up to the standard M1009 antenna mount. Thanks and best regards. Jim

    AB-558 Antenna Base

What type of coax connector does the AB-558 antenna base have? Poked around google and here but came up with an empty sack. Thanks Jim

    M1009 rear window scratches

Glass measures 5.5 on the Mohs hardness scale, a decent grade of steel is 5.5 also. Quartz (the main component in sand) measures 7. If the rubber is scratching the glass it may be because sand and grit are imbedded in the rubber. If the headlight polish kits are for the plastic lens, the...

Post Your CUCV Snow Pics Here!

A cold day in **** for the Antichrist Not sure how much it snowed last night - forecast was 15 to 20". The 25 to 30 MPH sustained winds sure did pile it up though. I need snowshoes to get to the truck.

    Grade 8 Bolts

Paul Globalization and the de-industrialization of the US are the problem. As to the CEO's and the interlocking boards of directors of the Fortune 500, who do you reckon came up with the idea of closing factories in the US and moving the machinery & equipment to places with $0.10 per hour...

    Grade 8 Bolts

CAT does not make their own bolts etc but uses and sells them made to CAT specs and branded with the CAT logo. Back before the MBA's took over the company, CAT tested stuff like bolts to see if it met the print and specs. Now CAT gives it's suppliers a magical ISO-9000 plaque to hang on the...

    Grade 8 Bolts

At Caterpillar we fought not just junk aftermarket bolts that ended up on CAT machines but garbage counterfeit parts maked with the CAT logo. The govt does not inspect the quality and fitness for use of imported parts. Neither do retailers such as Tractor Supply. The problem is...

    New dash pad?

Non-metallic materials (rubber, plastics, and rubber based adhesives) are degraded by: heat, oxygen, ozone and UV light. The "drying out", shrinkage and cracking seen on dash pads is a combination of all these factors plus the liquid ingredients in the plastic evaporate out over time. That is...

    New dash pad?

Stitch If I ever get the mechanical bugs exterminated I'll start on the cosmetics. Hopefully you will be hearing from me soon. Regards Jim

    New dash pad?

Don't know about GM but at Caterpillar the date on the box or bag has nothing to do with the date of manufacture of the part. As altitude increases, so does the amount of UV light reaching the surface. However, UV damage occurs at sea level as well. Just takes a little longer. Humidity...

    New dash pad?

Well, I might be buying - that looks outstanding. Please tell me about the installation process for your covers. My dash pad is brittle and has a couple of good sized gulleys in it. It feels like if I gave it a dirty look it would turn into a pile of powder. Is much pulling and stretching...

    Winter Tires

I've become real partial to the General Grabber AT2. Agressive tread but quiet at road speed. Have not had them in mud but they do great in snow and on 4WD trails in the Rockies. The M1009 is the 3rd vehicle I've had them on. Cost less than BFG and a lot of other off road tires. Regards Jim

    Starter parts question

Timber My local GM dealer was able to get new bolts and brackets using the GM part numbers in the -20P manual. THe bracket, angle is for the original 27MT starter, the bracket, straight is for the later gear reduction starter some folks are using. GM PART #DESCRIPTION 15544950BOLT...

    86 CUCV Blazer(still 24v); Batteries completely discharged

I wonder what the GM engineers were thinking when they came up with the idea of a couple of delicate 25 cent light bulbs being the difference between an operational or a dead $29,900 vehicle. At Caterpillar a currently popular management buzz phrase is "robust design". Best I can tell it means...
