I do not plan to restore this to original but I'd like to find the power cable reels as opposed to jury rigging something. No doubt I'll have to make new power cables.

Jim
Thats what I was looking for. Thanks for the photo and p/n. Looks like I'm on a scavenger hunt again.

p.s. Firefly was one of the best TV shows ever.
I have photos. Problem is I took them after assembling the trailer several years ago and they are 35mm prints, not digital. I'll try to remember to take the digital camera next time I'm out where its stored.
The brackets are mounted to the floor and are made to hold an axle or shaft. Look like...
I have a pioneer tool trailer. It is the longer version mounted on an M101A1 chassis.
There are a pair of brackets in the rear on either side of the genset location. Looks like these would have held spools for electrical cords.
Anyone know the part numbers for these spools (or have pictures...
Last year I replaced the fuel filter base when I changed the filter. Time to change the filter again. The vent plug oring is leaking slightly already. The TM says to replace the vent and drain plug orings every time the filter is changed.
Question: does anyone know the correct "dash size" for...

What company made the M113 rubber tracks?
I worked at Caterpillar. Did a little R&D work Cat's rubber track. Cat used it on the Challenger ag tractor and combine. Was also used on a Mobile ICBM launcher test rig and for experimental 5 ton truck "halftracks".
The Cat version was a...
Another M1009 w/o adjustment slot in backing plate.
Today I'm fighting a rear drum on a 1986 M1009 and ran across this thread.
The parking brake on the left side malfunctioned and is dragging. When I tried to pull the brake drum found there was no slot in backing plate to back off the...
The "gangsta lean" is the main thing I do not like about the original seats.
There are trainloads of surplus NOS HMMWV seats being sold on GL. Are these the new style?
Regards
Jim
Good to know about the HMMWV seats. The M-939 seats on the market look like they out to be comfortable. Never know until you're in one for a few hours.
Thanks guys.
Jim
Has anyone retrofitted an M-1009 with the driver's seat from the M-939 (part number 2540015329633)? Is it an air ride unit?
Same for HMMWV seats (part number 57K0290).
Looking for something which would not require fabricating a base.

Jim

If I do the swap, I'll let you know.
I'm in the flatlands now. In two years I'll be in CO and having trailer brakes will be more important. Intend to take the trailer so that is another factor to consider.
Not sure where you are coming from on the spare tire mount?
Someday I'd...
Have an M101A2 with the inertia (surge) brake system.
Is use it for camping and light (500 lb) hauling towed with an M1009.
Question:
When properly maintained is the inertia brake system reliable and durable?
Reading thru the various threads here I get the impression this system is...
The so called check valve (housing pressure regulator valve) on the front of the injection pump looks like a pipe nipple. It is right next to the pink wire. The internal valve is a glass ball. When pumps begin to fail, the valve plugs with debris and a band aid fix is to knock the glass ball out...
I worked this problem several years later than '92.
Your "double o-ring" sounds like what the o-ring suppliers called the "quad-ring". The cross section looks like a 4 leaf clover. If nothing else that should help prevent the piston from tipping in the bore and getting wedged. I recommended...
Cat p/n 3P-1155 one of the o-rings for the rebuild? That was the one on the floating piston when I was working the problem. The 3p-1155 o-ring is a 75 durometer fluoroelastomer. Do not recall the dash size. Fluoroelastomers (Viton) are great for use with all petroleum based fluids and high temp...
I never could blame the problem on the o-rings. Suspected it was the floating pistons or the bores they rode in.
If these can be field rebuilt that tells me all the parts swapping and hand fitting at the CAT transmission factory sorted out pistons and other components which function as...
(1) So the AB-558 is not a direct fit to the CUCV side mount? Is it a bolt circle or center hole misfit?
(2) Happen to know the p/n of the adapter plate? Do you have a spare one in your back pocket?
Already have the std CUCV mounts and ought to stay with them.
Thanks again
Jim
