$3-$5 per mile is not bad, but it can be better.
Albany, GA to StL was $1100 on a flatbed, but the site loading the trucks has to be flexible w/ time. If they're like GL and give you a 15 minute window, add $500.

Picked up and expando trailer a few months ago in Jeff City, and the ground has finally dried enough that I was able to bring it home on Thursday.
So, to celebrate the summertime's arrival, Hairba11 and I opened it up and christened it.

Today, I unspooled (and un-kinked) the cable on the rear winch of one of my M816's.
When I went to spool it back up, I was a little concerned when the winch drum did not turn!
Came to find that the shear pin was sheared, and I need a new one (the previous owner, Uncle Sugar, spooled the...
I have towed an M817 w/ my M816, and I lifted the front wheels. The steering did get a little light going around a sharp corner, but I made it.
Only thing that I would do different, is to lift the boom 1' higher and extend the boom braces. I had the towbar extended 1-1/2', and it worked...
Nope, driveshaft was not disconnected (only had to go 1-1/2 miles). Did not put air to it for the tow.
Transfer case was in nuetral, as was the transmission.

I'm just glad that the clutch held when I jammed it into 1st, half-way up the hill (needless to say, the old, glazed facing on the clutch lining was quickly smoked off leaving some nice, new lining to grab...
