I've read through this thread twice now and also find all the help offered to be great! So where are you on temperature now? Still hitting 230? I didn't see that you replaced your temp guage or checked it with another gauge.
I took mine for a spin and noticed it ran a little hotter than usual...
Pic8- My mock up of the control panel. I used a $13 watt meter and a $14 charge controller. The red shop towel is where my Solargizer will be once it arrives. Since the amp output of the charger is so low I could have probably gone without the charge controller. However it provides protection...
Pic4- Frame all welded. Not perfect but it worked!
Pic5- A mock up of how it'll all go together.
Pic6- I originally planned to use some fancy strain relief for the wire running to the batteries but instead opted for a simple knot. I used a 12' extension cord to connect the batteries to the...
My solar panel install - with pics
Lots of good threads here about solar panels inspired me to add one to my '84 M925. I think it turned out well and I took lots of pics so I thought I'd document my efforts here.
Pic1- I used a pair of 12v Wildgame solar panels wired in series I found on...
You are welcome to ride with me! Turns out my out of town plans are cancelled and I will be able to make it. I plan on meeting everyone for breakfast.
Off topic, anyone know which forum member lives close to Bethany and had a quad cab 5-ton? Drove past one the other day, lives close to me.
Good points all. I had actually planned on finding a brighter bulb (led maybe) to make it a little brighter. I picked that style of light for my reverse lights because I want them to match the look of the others on the truck. Does anyone here do any vacuum forming?
Are there any clear lenses made for these standard side marker lights? I want to install a pair as reverse lights on my truck. I've searched a bunch with no luck.
Thanks!

Got the pump installed. She was quick prime using some compressed air at the fuel tank and filling the pump full using the plug on top. Just a few seconds of cranking and she started. I've learned a lot...
Thanks. Can I shim it myself? I have my pump off right now after a rebuild at the pump shop. They had already completed their bench test before I mentioned the shims and button. They did though say the pump was running strong. I'm anxious to get the truck running again and might want to tackle...
I did some more searching last night and couldn't find much. I did find a few engine TM's with some exploded diagrams. Maybe these pics will help if someone with more knowledge than I wants to explain the flush process.
Up from the dead. I'm looking for this too. The TM is misleading and it doesn't discuss how to flush, only fill and drain, and not very well at that. For the 855 engine it basically says drain from the petcock and refill from the overflow tank. I'm sure there's a line or two that can (or even...
Alright. My pump is back from the pump shop. Cost me three bills, but oh well, lesson learned! They replaced the pump shaft, tach shaft, several o-rings, gaskets and the gov weights. They hooked it up on the bench to test it. They said fuel pressure was above the minimum spec maybe 30% IIRC so he...
I thought putting a smaller button in actually restricted the return of fuel to the pump and built up fuel rail pressure. Whereas turning out the screw is what allows more fuel from the pump to the engine. Do I have that wrong?
