I bought a new rear main seal and read about changing it by removing the oil pan and rear main...
I am taking out the transmission to be rebuilt
Question: Can I change the rear mail seal WITHOUT removing the oil pan when the transmission is out? Or is removing the pan a must either way?
Does anyone know if the 2wd version of the TH400 is the same as the 4wd except for the tail?
I am looking for a core to build and there are tons of 2wd versions and I noticed that the tail bolts on.
Maybe take off the tail and change the output shaft???

If you put on an under bumper mounted hitch that bolts to the 1" bar that goes between the shackle lift points as well as the bumper that is also bolted to the frame behind the pintle... it seems like that is bolted to the frame many times.

I just put on a tranny cooler... I used the flat plate style

I put it in series to use the radiator to bring it down and then the tranny cooler to bring it down even further than if...
Go the Lost Automobile and Old Car Titles route. Or one similar.
I did this with two Russian motorcycles and it works.
What they do is, you sell them the truck for $1 and then they are a registerd dealer in Rhode Island (I think) and then they sell it back to you for $1.

What it boils down to is - As long as the truck is running, you can use just about any petro based oil or CLEAN veggie oil. If you have diesel on hand you are better off mixing then running straight (pick your alt)

I don't live in Mass. but I don't think they have any way of dealing with it... just like they have now way of dealing with electric cars or hybrid (gas/electric).
