Actually, thinking about it this morning... you could build a new smaller filter box to sit on the manifold and then run a tube forward to the opening on the core support.
Or, to utilize the existing OEM filter and housing you could make an adapter. Cut a larger hole in the lower filter pan...
I would be doing it for several reasons and the main one is higher air flow. The intake on the remote filter and the tube would be larger than the opening in the stock filter setup.
The others are aesthetic... to clean up the top of the engine and engine compartment.... also maybe use a...
I have been thinking about fabricating a remote filter box for the CUCV.
Essentially what I'd like to make is a unit that is very similar to the Banks Turbo setup but without the turbo.
It would be made out of aluminum and utilize a standard size filter so you could go with a K&N or standard...
Well it is not a necessity but I suppose the carrier could have both mounts available...
The rear is 37 9/16" from outside to outside
The front is 31 1/4" from outside to outside
You know those cargo carriers that fit into the hitch?
Well, has anyone thought of or made a custom carrier that would mount (slide) onto the two spots where the shackles mount?
I was thinking of this today as I was wondering how you could have a bit of cargo space AND tow a small trailer and...
I had the red RTV in the tool box but opted to get the black.
It is all done. The rear looked like someone used elmer's glue for a gasket and the front had a very solid (original maybe) gasket.
Strange... both the front and rear lube had bubbles and looked like there might have been some...

The are used to have power in various parts of the truck.. the original ones on the left rear were used for the radio.
Anyone have a set of electrical bars laying around they could part with? I'd like to add an extra set in the rear of my M1009 more towards the tailgate.
I am going to change the fluid in the front and rear diffs in my M1009...
Do I need to ask for something special when buying the dif cover gaskets? 1ton vs 1/2 ton etc?
I have looked thru the TMs and I can't seem to find anything on replacing the water pump
Does anyone know where it is in the TM?
Also, how much of a PITA is it to replace? Is it as easy as a small block chevy water pump?
I'm sorry but this is such a cop out response. I have read this kind on many forums and I have to say that it is a crappy attitude to take.
Those people that work at the GL agreed to give a fare day's work for the pay they get... not to work like a slug and take no pride in what they do and...
This is an older thread but something I have been considering... my truck only has 30k but having sat most of its life I'd like to rebuild everything in the tranny so I know its current state...
Plus when I changed the fluid last week the old fluid had a slight gold flake in it and was almost...
Mine is acting the same way and has been since i got it... about a year.
I just change the fluid and filter a week ago...
I did a little test this morning after everything was warmed up.
1/4 to 1/2 throttle - average acceleration for a stop
first to second = 27
second to third = 43
