Well this video was taken on my property. Off-road driving of any sort is going to cause damage. The bigger the vehicle the greater the damage it will produce. This entire concept of "treading lightly" is great but in most cases unrealistic in many respects. You get a group of jeeps or pickups...
That was the one saving grace this mud wasn't as sticky as it can be. It's sticky but not that so sticky that when you step in it that it wants to consume your legs and shoes. But yeah that is a good tip. And well you always have to be careful of over-reving the engine. I was barely at 2200rpm...
I would never do this sort of stuff on someone else's property, this is my property. If want to drive the truck around on it in the back and make big hole I can.
You're right if this was some one else's property that would have been uncool of me to do. But in this case all I need to do is...
Yeah, that is pretty decent actually, for the setup. I think I need to get my camera mounted to my dashboard for a drive around my hometown. I'll show the world what smalltown upstate New York looks like from the Duke.
The mud is about 18 to 24 inches deep on the way out of the pit. I need...
5- & 6-Speed
This series of transmissions. I don't mind the fact that the first is 7.05 to 1 ratio, so what if you have shift quickly it will be awesome in low range when pulling stuff.
As for why only 325hp and 860ft-lbs of torque I really don't think the M35 will handle much more than...
most of the time the truck when I drive off road is in low-range and in 1-3 gears. Also I almost always have the truck with the front axle engaged. I usually drive it rather carefully where ever I go.
thanks for the advice.
Thanks, I'm going to do the next video with rock walls and different area. Also there are alot of old logging roads I want to try out. Plus some new logging roads too...
I want to repower as well but I like the DT 466 mechanical injector pump for the job. I like the idea of building it up from 200hp to 325hp and 860ft-lbs of torque. At those ratings my Duke will have more power and torque than a standard M809series truck with the NHC block in it. Of course with...
I like the old style better myself, I think it fits overall vintage aesthetic look of the truck. I would keep the old style one only because well parts for a M35 aren't exactly a NAPA trip way!
Yeah unfortunately it is the same mud pit over and over again. I need to get a new one to tame.
However, I think next video will do more with rocks. I have bunch of rock walls in various states of decay that make for fun obstacles to drive over.
I was worried that I might be assembling a series of vehicles to pull myself out. But I had some luck I was getting better grip on the left hand side of the pit as I was coming out so Hugged it and kept the RPM's up to maintain traction on the right side as much as possible until I got into...
I still think it needs the air-lockers on all three axles and more hp. But yeah it is was blast getting it out the mud.
I should really reduce the tire pressure but I'm just too lazy to refill ten tires back up to 50psi manually when I want to take him out on the road. I mean that is alot of...
