Which cover are you trying to take off? I took off all of the channel covers on mine and was able to get to and remove the transmission (yes by dropping it down but there was still a decent amount of stuff to disconnect) without cutting any of the floor. With the transmission channels unbolted...
Will take and upload pics tomorrow as it is dark now and I won't get much of a picture, but.... I installed a small hand operated crane in the bed of my 923 so it is much easier to lift those heavy odds and ends in to the truck.
Yes it does blow off. I get that regular but not too often air release. Sounds like the typical 18 wheeler air blow down sound when they are driving down the road. No I have not looked at the governor yet.
No click on the solenoid. I know of the electrical issues and have the parts to fix it to include a new solenoid. My problem is no air at the solenoid. When I disconnected the airline from the solenoid and ran the truck there was no air in the line.
Ok. I have searched and maybe overlooked but I haven't found the answer to figure out my issue yet. My air horn is not working. I know part of the problem, My solenoid doesn't seem to be working and the button on the steering wheel isn't making good contact. The electrical part is figured...
Sold my M52A2 for real this time. Down to one 5 ton now. Kind of a bitter sweet moment. The M52 was my first MV and with the help of family it was rebuilt from a run down truck to a decent running truck. It was a great truck for a starter though.
Sounds familiar to me. I was going to take mine for a drive but with the snow and people who don't know how to drive in inclement weather I decided to stay home.
I have run Christmas lights off of an inverter on my Silverado. I have seen large (think 18 wheeler) trucks with Christmas lights on them lit up. Like you said it depends on the state. We have done it in New Mexico and here in Texas and have not been told anything about it before.
That being...
Went on about a 360 mile round trip run from El Paso to Elephante Butte Lake for the weekend. Met up with a bunch of other members there where we decorated our trucks with Christmas lights and raised money for a charity. We won best camp site for the 4th year in a row and raised the most money...
So no clunk on the solenoid so it has gone out on me and the horn button isn't showing a good ground. No big problem on either. I know what I need and will get it all on order. Thank you all for your input helping me narrow down what I need to look for.
Thanks for the info. Things changed and I won't need to keep it on for the trip I am making after all. The input though about MPG and wear and tear was very helpful. Thank you all for your advice!!
I am planning on taking my truck on a trip next weekend. It will be a few hundred miles round trip at most. With a M923A2 with the 6CTA 8.3L Cummins how much difference on fuel mileage will I see if I drive with the cargo cover installed versus having the cargo cover removed. I just got the...
Thank you all for the input. Like I said this is just a temporary fix until I get the correct super rope. I plan on ordering it tonight if I have a chance while I'm at work. I just want something to keep the cover on with wind while it's parked and if I take it out around town.
I am planning on ordering some of the correct super rope for my cargo cover but in the mean time I am thinking about using 550 cord to keep my cargo cover on. Now to make long trips or drive anything over about 45 mph the cover will come off anyway for fuel economy reasons. Anybody see why 550...
