I'm not really sure where to post it. It's not really a CUCV cab, just a Chevy cab of the same time frame. It's been a long time since I messed with one of these, but I thought they were already 12 volt systems. I remember that we kept glow plugs in stock for both the CUCV and the Eagle...
I'd like to remind everyone, this is not a CUCV. There is no big resistor on the firewall and the glow plugs may be different. I'd bet that the AC60 plugs will fit fine. It would be best to pull a plug and cross the number.
On a side note, I converted my 1031 to 12v and use the AC60 plugs. I...
A word to the wise on the Chevy...Before you pull any plugs on the axles, be sure to slowly let off any pressure. The brakes are a wet system and that fluid stinks like nothing else. One of my guys was in a hurry and ended up being covered with it. It's one of those things that just has to...
Send me a PM. Let me know what lots you need looked at and what you specifically need me to include in the photos. I'm on Eglin almost every other day.

The only thing I've found says a D70, but they didn't provide anything that would allow one to verify it. Like mentioned above, I'd look for the "D60" or "D70" on the housing.

I repaired mine a couple of weeks ago. I initially replaced the cable because it was screwed up. The second cable went bad within a couple of days, so I pulled the speedometer head and found that it was starting to seize. I ordered a new cable and speedometer head from Saturn and it works...
I'd have the following on hand when picking up a trailer:
1. Air source for the tires
2. Tire pressure gauge
3. Penetrating fluid
4. Grease gun
5. Socket set to check the lug nuts
6. Jack
7. Electrical tape and wire (if picking up with a military vehicle)
8. Magnetic lights (if picking...
Filling the hub hurts nothing, it also doesn't help anything. Only the bearings are greased from the factory. I'd say that if we start getting a hub hot enough to liquify the grease so that it flows out of the bearings into the hub, we have other problems...
That being said, I did repack...
I know we painted some with a gloss poly when I was in the military. The poly seemed to hold up well. I'd stop by and ask what the paint code was, but the last time I stopped in to vehicle ops the SSgt didn't even know what I was talking about when I mentioned a CUCV...

I'm thinking about going this direction with my 1031. It's currently painted CARC Desert Sand and absorbs every greasy fingerprint that gets close to it. It does not clean up at all... I'm a mechanic by trade and it does no good for me to show up at a station without a professional looking...
Does anyone have GM part numbers for some CUCV 27SI alternator parts? I'm looking for the rectifier, regulator, and brush holder/brush part numbers.
