    Correct M1009 Fr. Left U-joint?

Can anyone tell me what is the correct Front Left U-joint (at the steering knuckle) for a 85 M1009? The ones at the parts stores all seem about 3/16" or 1/8" too long. The ears do not appear bent...? I tried the FAQ's, but didn't see it there. The Search feature seems to be having...

Well...the tranny went last night in my M1009

Be sure to check the fluid level. Th350's & Th400's are notorious for not going anywhere when they're just a bit low on fluid. & of course, crawl underneath & check your linkage. If it were me, I'd pull the pan & check the filter. It its really worn out, the filter & pan should be filled...

    warm starting issues, still

I was also thinking it sounds like a bad starter. They'll sometimes start to get "heat soak" when they're about dead.

    Highway speed for M1009

Mine also like to cruise about 68mph, though I've gone 72-75 for extended periods w/o problems to date. I should change my balancer though!

    12v winch from front battery??

A 24v winch is gonna be a lot more expensive & harder to find. I ran my 17.5k winch off the front battery for a while (before converting 24v to 12v for other reason) w/o problems.

    Wmo newbie

#1 thing of WVO, in my opinion, let it settle for a spell! The overwhelming majority of all crap & unwanted gunk will settle to the bottom in due time. Personally, I find cubies much easier to work with than barrels.

Where to get a new speedometer?

How much to rebuild a speedo, on average?

Where to get a new speedometer?

I took my dash apart to clean it up & I think its time to replace the speedometer. It rattles & bounces all over the place, even when you turn it by hand. LMC wants $160 for a speedometer, which is outta my reasonable budget. Any suggestions where to pick one up besides buying a whole new...

M1009 bumpers pita to remove...6 hours...

They are definitely a bit frustrating! I had to pull out the Lincoln to get mine out (I was removing mine to make a custom bumper).

    More electrical ghosts - M1009

They sound to me like independent problems, but who knows. These things are electrical nightmares. Cleaning the thru-firewall main wiring harness connection is a good idea on all these trucks & is never a bad place to start (though probably not the problem here). #1 & #2 could be related...

    IP pump purchase from where?

If you can get it for that local where there is someone you can see with your own eyes, I'd do that. Otherwise, dieselplace.net seems to make a good pump & they're pretty cheap. Find their yahoo store & save another $30. Their business does seem to have an emphasis on the DB2 pumps.

    WVO Blending

I'm currently running 25-33% diesel w/ my WVO in my M1009. Its not that cold in Alabama & I start it up & run the first few miles on 100% diesel.

    Poor mans WMO filter setup.

I think the best way to go is to let it all settle for a good while. The antifreeze will stay mixed w/ the water & should settle to the bottom. I either pump or pour the oil into my heating barrel (55g drum w/ a 1" NPT fitting housing an old hot water element). From there, all the water is...

Coolant in oil, can it be separated?

2 simple things you can do: Wait patiently & let gravity do its thing.

    Poor mans WMO filter setup.

Dudadiesel.com has great filters. I use them to filter aaout 40gal of WVO at a time.

Any members own a wood gas powered mv?

I was interested in Woodgas for a good while. I went as far as to make a proof of concept gasifier that would blow nice 4' flames when you lit the output gas. It's a neat concept & its true that a supposed 1 Million vehicles ran on it in WWII, but I dropped it for WVO. The WVO is way more...

    Electric fuel Pump install?

I also run the Airtex E8153 for my SVO pump. It seems to work great & haven't had any problems yet. Its also about the cheapest pump out there, yet seems to be very good quality. A properly functioning IP really shouldn't be affected by slight variations in pressure.

    M1009 Running Cold

I'm currently maintaining about 165F at the solenoid. I'm going to add another electric heater between the solenoid & the IP. The idea behind it is to heat up the diesel before the IP, so that cold diesel doesn't cool off the heated oil @ switch over. The IP itself holds a good 4-9oz...
