With my old IP, it my M1009 was quiet. It didn't sound like a diesel except near idle. It sounded more like a humming vacuum cleaner motor (nope, no vacuum leaks).
The new IP sounds like a proper diesel!
I was quite impressed when I read this a few years ago & forwarded it around. Then a friend pointed me to Snopes.com where they confirm/deny hoaxes.
This email is total B.S.
Sounds funny, but with any flare connection you sometimes need to hold/push the line in place with one hand while you spin the nut on with the other. You shouldn't have to use the wrench at all, except for the final tightening.
If the flare nut doesn't spin freely in 2 fingers, you'll likely...
I definately tried welding it. My MIG died, so I only have stick to work with. I welded it on what I thought to be quite solid several times & just kept breaking it off again.
I went to change the thermostat & broke the bolt off. Its stuck as can be. I broke off 2 screw extractors on it. Unfortuantely, you can't very well drill through those.
Anyone have a coolant crossover to fit a CUCV for a decent price???
Thanks guys,
John O>.
I started pulling my IP last night. First broke I went to remove broke off, so I have a broken bolt sticking out the thermostat housing on the crossover pipe.
Then I get to the intake, making sure to remove all bolts, which were barely more than hand tight. The intake lifted off very easily...
Thats kinda similar to how I made my custom bumper for my winch. I started with welding a large plate for the winch to bolt to on top of the shackle mounts.
Put about a 3/8" spacer on top of the shackle mount & you can put your stock shackles back on & they'll swing around like they should.
Do you have to break the glass bead out? It looked at first glance like a standard size fitting? I'll verify tonight.
I also have NO power (think 4-banger), but I'm not crazy about breaking stuff if I don't have to!
