What have you done to your CUCV today/lately? - Part 1

Took a load with my Dad's trailer to my new house. Probably the most loaded down I've had it yet, finally got to try out my new Draw-Tite tow bar. Had to cut the safety hooks off altogether on the pintle hook mount to get the bar installed, but I do plan on finishing up reinforcing the pintle...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately? - Part 1

To my knowledge, none of them take 24, but the ACs are recommended for use when the resistor has been bypassed, and the Wellmans for when the resistor will still be used. But I'm not sure why this actually makes a difference, because either way I thought the system was designed to be feeding...

    Taillight connector from TM

cpf240 seems to be right though, it's not mentioned on E-16 but on E-18 it seems to refer to the same connector, which seems to carry both the standard taillights and the blackout lights in one pack. E-18 does say that is absent on the M1009, so I'm not likely to find what I'm looking for on my...

    CUCV STAR and Bridge plate.

So I guess the simple version for the 09 is, when towing, it should have a 4. I'll need to get my hands on a 4 and this C you speak of if the 4 isn't on the reverse of the 3, and the C isn't on the reverse of what I'm assuming is a blank or a missing plate on my setup.

    Taillight connector from TM

If it's in the firewall, that's awfully misleading to put it in the 'Rear' schematic.

    CUCV STAR and Bridge plate.

Since this was brought up, and someone mentioned towing, I had a question. If I had my M1009 loaded to ~5500 lbs, and was towing ~1700, for a grand total of ~7200, would I need to throw an 04 on my plate to indicate that I am now quite over 3 tons and pushing 4? Is there a point where you...

    Taillight connector from TM

While trying to come up with a completely plug-and-play solution for my civvy trailer wiring on the M1009, I found several wiring diagrams that enlightened me to a few things. First, as many have noticed, the T-connector for a civilian trailer 4-way plug does not work out of the box. Both...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately? - Part 1

Just installed my Draw-Tite hitch. Pintle hook mostly still in place. Cut off the green hooks with an acetylene torch, I'll just have to use the ones on the hitch I guess. I have managed to drill the holes in the hitch to reinforce the pintle and put the pintle back so far. Now to get a...

    Boat towing

I could have sworn this truck already has a transmission cooler installed, in fact I thought it was stock. Guess I'll double check.

    Boat towing

Yeah I may still try to stick with my buddy's old Tri-Sonic, it's only about an 18' rec boat. Or I'll have to keep my buddy's F-250 running and just borrow it a lot.

    Boat towing

I have an M1009, and I'm installing Trailer Hitches - Draw-Tite I want to tow 1983 SEA RAY 21 FT - All Wheel Auto Troy, MO from St Charles, to as far as the Lake of the Ozarks or Jackson County. Am I crazy, or should it handle it? The trailer has surge brakes, not electric I guess.

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately? - Part 1

I only seem to drive at night these days so I guess I hadn't really noticed yet. My 09 lately is just my party vehicle.

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately? - Part 1

New d-hook tow strap, and a Smittybilt Jeep MOLLE-style seat cover in OD. Went on easily enough, finding locations for the lower elastic strap hooks was the tricky part. The seat is kept in the fold of the chair via a velcro strap that goes through from the front of the seat to the back and...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately? - Part 1

Your winch looks very neatly mounted, is that a production mount or a custom fab? Either way, can I get some more pics? Still have my 10k in the box in the back of the 09.

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately? - Part 1

Ordered a bunch of stuff for mine. Found an off roading tow strap that attaches to the D hooks for $30, and some military trailer chains for about twenty. Also added in an antenna tie down rope set in case I ever want to hook up the antenna, might as well round out the collection (only an...

    Rules clarification

Since I just read it, as I'm sure almost every other member did, I noticed it forbid links to eBay auctions. When that was written, auction may have very well been the vastly predominant listing type on eBay, but now with the widespread habit of setting up storefronts and selling Buy It...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately? - Part 1

Yeah, thought we were just SOL this winter and then this random front came through and dropped 2-4 inches across MO, from KC to St Louis. Dunno how it missed Iowa.

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately? - Part 1

"What have you done to your CUCV today/lately?" Enjoyed it. We finally got a decent amount of snow, and there was no way I was going to miss a perfectly good chance to take it for a romp. Even met the new neighbors and got them to hop in.

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately? - Part 1

Got my driveshaft installed again. Not sure why the last one failed so quick, but I've got a couple ideas. I might have had the caps pressed in poorly, putting the joint in a bind. But, I think the more likely culprit might be that the -20 said the rear u-joint only gets two clips. It...
