    '84 M1009 - Won't crank - 12v Roscommon converted

Are all your primary 0-2 gauge grounds good and clean? Make sure the ground from the firewall block to the engine is clean and tight. Also the ground from the battery to the frame.

    My 1984 Chevrolet Suburban K20 4x4 3/4 ton CUCV clone #2 - AKA: M1007 or M1029

Had the Bullet Liner spayed on Friday and put everything back in today (Saturday). Started working on it about 10am and finished about 6pm with a lunch break. That was allot of work putting it all back in and seemed like it was easy getting it out. So now I have a mix of tan, black and red and...

    My 1984 Chevrolet Suburban K20 4x4 3/4 ton CUCV clone #2 - AKA: M1007 or M1029

Well the weather has finally been good enough to start on stripping out the interior for the Bullet Liner that is my last major part of this project. I just about had it all done less some more stripping of the paint and glue from the carpet over the wheel wells. The Bullet liner sticks better...

    Power steering belt tightening experience.....

Interested to see how this works, Thexton web page does not have any instructions. Did not see any how to videos on YouTube as well. Looking at it you seem to hook onto the bracket and pull it out to tighten the belt. I know the bracket has a square hole for either a 3/8 or 1/2 socket end, but...

    My 1984 Chevrolet Suburban K20 4x4 3/4 ton CUCV clone #2 - AKA: M1007 or M1029

I went back to the 33" tires as these 36" were out of balance with the wheels I had. Did not have time to get them balanced and will likely just stay with the 33" and try and sell these 36" with the wheels. If you want a crawler you better off with a 350 or 454 for the higher horsepower and a...

Why do some people hate military vehicles?

That is a great get even story!!! I live near a Bell factory & heliport so I know how loud one can be, especially a Huey. So getting to the OP question, why do people not like military vehicles? I do not know why as they are so cool, but had a neighbor that did not like when I had four...

    Code Enforcement Threat

Texas cities are really good at taking peoples property with eminent domain over the last 20 years. They will find a way to take it if they cannot buy it and it is unfair. Some of the known cities to find a way to take land for public entertainment buildings, either through condemning them or...

    My 1984 Chevrolet Suburban K20 4x4 3/4 ton CUCV clone #2 - AKA: M1007 or M1029

I put some 36x12.50 R16.50 military tires on the alloy 16.50 wheels I had only to find out I had a really bad ball joint. Not sure how I missed that before, but it may have gone bad on my trip to Bridgeport as I do not recall it being that way when I did the lift. So I spent Sunday fixing the...

CUCV won't start - guidance needed

I am not sure if it is an official site rule, but you should not use "HELP" in the title unless you need help right away broken down on the side of the road for example.

    CUCV Cold Weather Start Experince

We have had some really cold days here in North Texas and this morning it was about 21 degrees. On these cold days with my 6.2L Suburban I have the block heater plugged in and also a battery tender to keep them constantly charging. If the batteries are kept slightly charging they will perform...

    My 1984 Chevrolet Suburban K20 4x4 3/4 ton CUCV clone #2 - AKA: M1007 or M1029

Looking at putting some new 36" military tires on over the next week and already test fit clearance on some 35" tires. They look fine and should be fine with a 4" lift, so the 36" should hopefully work as well. The image below are 16.5" wheels and my current lug nuts are the correct ones. Not...

    Headlight circuit changed

Did you cut the diode on the horn relay to eliminate the crossed circuit to the headlight system? I do this on all of the CUCV trucks I rebuild and also remove the capacitor on the horn in the grille...

    Unity Spotlight

All Unity spot lights are the same diameter for the shaft, but come in different lengths for each application. Yes you can buy the mounting kit for our trucks and just about anything 0-60 years old. You need a 27 installation kit for driver and 27RH for passenger side. The exact model is 325GM...

    M1009: Winch recommendations / ideas?

I agree on the HF 12000lb winch as I have one on my M1031 and Suburban CUCV clone. I have pulled out a RAM 1500 from a ditch with my previous M1009 with no issues. You can usually get the 12k for $299 during the sidewalk sale, or a 20% coupon will get you close to that.

    Water Outlet, Engine question

Suburban is doing well and has been my daily driver for the last two weeks as my car is down due to interior updates and stupid UPS delays for the parts. Hope you will be able to find one as they are great trucks with the fun part of building them into a CUCV clone.

    Water Outlet, Engine question

Same issue and resolution. Before I change these out now I will spay the bottom both with JB80 a few times over a 24hr period. After that I will heat the bolt up before I try to remove it and has worked out well a few times now.
