31 volts is at the high edge of charge voltage for a flooded 24V battery. If it doesn't go higher, and if you keep an eye on the electrolyte level, you should be OK. You can find lots of information on the web, of course. Here's some: http://www.solarnavigator.net/battery_charging.htm The...
Ok, thanks o1951, now I understand what you meant, and it's very interesting. Sewerzuk, I'm not sure I go along with two 002As being cooler than one 003A, but then I'm old, and like stuff to just work. When I was your age... (yada yada yada)
SZ, I saw your YT video with the sudoLister belt...
Good photos. I don't think you can assume that longer means more power consumption, although it might. The specs for the particular glow plug should specify current and design voltage.
I think the Evapo-Rust rust remover is phosphoric acid based too. You can get it by the gallon in liquid form, so it might be easier to use than the thicker products that are made to brush on.
The guys I know who restore a lot of motorcycle tanks stay away from strong acids like muriatic because it can get in the seams and be hard to get out, causing problems later. Evapo-Rust works well, and some guys use electrolysis and washing soda (not baking soda). You can search that on the...
In parallel the generators are locked together. Even a small phase difference causes the two to try to match each other. In series, I would think that the tendency would be to go to 180 degrees out of phase and produce zero power. What would make them want to stay out of phase so the output...
It's my understanding that we're not supposed to sell things in the forums, so I'll be posting the the classifieds when I get a few more done. I am trying to keep the price down to where it will be affordable. PM me if you like, and I'll try to be more specific.
Ha Jim, I wondered if someone would ask that. I work with a circuit board prototyper who takes the Gerber files and makes boards at a reasonable price. The default board is double sided, and can be silkscreened on both sides for the basic price. So I figured I'd draw a silkscreen layer that...
I bought an MEP-003A last summer, and thought it would be a good idea to have a spare regulator. When I saw the going prices for them, and since I have experience in this area, I decided to build one. I based it on the original 72-5020 board and its nearly identical brother, the 72-5338 board...
It's risky business, Will. I used soap and hot water 3 times on a motorcycle tank one time. Then I rinsed it and rigged a tube and a blower to force air through the tank to dry everything thoroughly for several hours. Then, before I did the braze repair, with the filler lid open, I waved my...
Jim, as I'm sure you know, some motor types and designs draw more starting current than others. I measured starting current drawn by three motors a few years ago. They were good quality Baldor 3-phase 1750 RPM motors. They were 5, 10, and 15 hp, and all three drew right around 10 times their...
Here are a couple previous threads about the generator that look like they have some good information in them, but unfortunately I didn't see any prices:

Here, a robot phones us from Progress Energy when the power comes back on to verify it. I know what you mean though... I'm planning to make a non-contact voltage monitor for the incoming mains that sets off an alarm when the power comes back on.
Good information, thanks Jim. I'm going to pass this along to a friend of mine who makes custom bodywork and tanks for the old Kawasaki triples. He may know about Hetron already, but I've never heard him mention it. Neat stuff on your web site, by the way.
Jimc, I know this discussion is about a can that will be used for diesel fuel, but fiberglass tanks are having trouble with the current gasoline blends. I know guys who have fiberglass gasoline tanks that are failing. The only laminating type resin I know of that holds up against gasoline now...
I'm interested in what you get too, Jerry. I looked at one of those at Fort Meade about 20 years ago, but I don't remember much about it.
Edit: I didn't even know there was a tab to watch a video. That's what the one I saw looked like alright. That should be fun to take along on camping...
