Check the battery cables if the bats are in series pos of front bat to neg of back battery then its 24 volt starter. if the pos are both together then its 12 volt. hard to tell in the pics but being the gauge has been changed very well may be.

You need a battery load tester to check them advance will do it for you at least here they will free! A battery can show 12 volt on a gauge and still be bad! let us know I will bet a battery is bad!

Have you had the batterys load tested or just checked with a volt meter? the Volts drop off when you try to crank ? sounds like a bad battery have them load tested to start with. if you just turn key on volt gauge is norm then when you crank it drop's is that what you are getting? if so load...

I put full hydro steering on my toy truck now the wife will drive it best conversion you can do to a 4x4 without it it take two men and a boy to turn 44 boggers with a spool in the front even with power steering now you can pinky steer it even setting still and no wander at all even at 65 mph

The Only thing that would have been 24 volt is the starter! you said the starter engaged the flywheel but the engine did not turn over if the batterys are fully charged then I would take starter off and have it checked or see if its still 24 volt if it is either replace with 12 volt or change...
