Remember, this is the gimp we're talking about. Nobody ever said he was altogether there :cookoo:
And don't forget...he also insures his nuts Insured postage?
I'm happy to be of assistance. I'm also glad you like our site. Please feel free to become intimately familiar with your generator, and in the future when a member needs help, jump right in there and offer up some advice. It's the people who make this site what it is.
Not a bad idea at all. It the charging regulator were going bad or the capacitor were to short out, that would keep it from draining the batteries.
Since the solar panel has no moving parts, is a sealed unit and all the joints in them are soldered I don't think the vibration would do much...
Do yourself a favor adn replace those petcocks with a couple of remote cable operated drain valves. The cable can be routed to a nice location at the side of the truck so you don't need to crawl under it, and it keeps the fingers in a safe location.
Sounds like the generator is working fine. As far as the voltmeter, probably a faulty meter. Find a replacement. It's obviously reading higher than it should.
I would not waste my time replacing working diodes. Tape up the suspect wire that was rubbing through and enjoy the generator
This topic I think would fall under "Auxilliary Equipment". I will go ahead and move it there for you. Good luck in your search. Also,
I'm probably going to change the title of the thread for you as well. Keep in mind that a more accurate and descriptive title will yield better results.
If you have the available copper, just put a new fitting on the end. Yes, you can buy the fittings also. If you can't get the fitting on because of the bend in the pipe, go down to a strait section and cut the pipe and put a coupler in it and a new section of pipe and then make the new end as...
That's a slick set-up, I have a very similar set-up. Rather than use gravity, I have a small diaphragm pump and pump my oil through a 50 micron strainer/water separator and then through 2 fine micron (I believe 5 micron) filters before going into my "Finished" container.
Without knowing anything about the M54 trucks...the only thing I see wrong is your link.
How about a clue for those of us not as up on these things as you are?
That's the part that threw me off. 220 and being able to move it + and - quite a bit equates to 240 volts (Since it's a common mis-statement for 220 / 240 volts) It would have been better to say 208 and able to adjust up to 220....but I digress...LOL
It probably showed 208 volts before...
Congrats.
When you start to work on the other one, if you do some digging I think the head gaskets are still available. It may be hard to find them though.
Good Luck
