From what you just described, the generator head (Alternator) is shorted. A bearing, even one that's really bad will not cause the engine to go to full load, or anywhere near it for that matter. Another indicator would have been the smell of the smoke coming from the alternator. There is...
I can't even begin to claim I know anything about the differences between the LDS and LDT pumps, but IIRC, isn't there a different timing mark for the LD, LDT and LDS pumps. Meaning each one is timed to the engine TDC just a bit differently
Ain't that the truth!!!!!!!
Gary,
Sorry to hear about your utility woes, but it sure is good to hear that your generator is keeping th family and guests happy.[thumbzup] [thumbzup]
I believe Westy is right, it's a 10 spline. The part that makes it odd though is the end for the carrier bearing is only 3/4 diameter. Most 10 spline 1 1/2" diameter transmission shafts are 1" I believe. I got an old input shaft from a truck junk yard and had my local machine shop turn the...
Now why would I do that...I can get a lot more than my $0.74 out of his wallet while he's passed out from flying over the windshield.
Oops, I mean uummm yes, you're right, I would want to make sure he's perfectly safe by wearing his belt in the "XM818 of Death"
I don't think I would go to the trouble of putting batteries in them just yet. Take a wrench and try to turn the "wet" engine over by hand first. As long as it's not frozen, then clean the heck out of the fuel tank and fuel system in general. Pull as many fuel feed and return lines as you can...
Joe, that is GREAT NEWS!!!!!!!!!
As to the batteries, unless one of them is bad they should both charge (hooked in series they have no choice but for both of them to take some charge), you'll need to go over the charging system and make sure it's working properly. Here is a link to a post I...
Buff, That shower unit is too cool!!!!!!!!
That's gonna make Haspin a whole lot nicer this year. You can wash the crud off of yourself in a lot nicer environment then the showers at Haspin.
I'm not chastising you for asking questions. I'm simply saying, if you get an hour or so of free time search the site for general "MEP-002a" or "MEP-003a" threads and read them (or just scroll through the auxiliary equipment forum for posts). Most of them are people asking questions, and you...
These sets have no idea if the batteries have been disconnected or not. The ill effects you will see if the batteries are disconnected have probably already been noticed by the OP. When you disconnect a battery while the set is running, the DC voltage spikes and can damage the DC voltage...
I'm coming up to Findlay this year on Friday. I decided I really don't have use for the items I was saving from the ENG-3 lube trailer, so if anybody wants the grease/oil tank complete with all 3 working pumps and the grease, oil and air hose reels with the metering valves on them. PM me and...
It's hard to tell....something is definitely shorted though. I still think something is going on with your generator head itself since you don't get the proper voltages out of it when you do the battery test like you did above. But, what you just described now, could mean you have multiple...
