    Blowing Starter solenoid fuses

I would check for a short or damaged insulation from the 'doghead' relay to the solenoid.

Please read this if you use brake clean

Hi, I just copied this off Smokstak forum. A safety tip that was meant to be shared. I knew the stuff stank, but did not know it could be this dangerous. http://www.brewracingframes.com/safety-alert-brake-cleaner--phosgene-gas.html

    M1031 generator

Here are some civilian manuals that might help. PM me an email & will try to send TMs.

    6.2 Broken Crankshaft Revisited.

Only 6.2 CUCV crank failure I have seen in person was in a 1008 I sold to a fellow member. He did drive it at highway speeds once in a while, and his harmonic balancer was in bad shape at the time. He is a good mechanic and suspects the balancer was a major factor. He said his truck also...

    mep 701a questions

Well, they told you wrong, the 701a is a 016b with a ASK(acoustic suppression kit), and has a 1 cylinder diesel motor that runs at 3600 RPM. There is the 016a that runs off a loud and thirsty gasoline motor that can be converted to propane.

    MEP-003A hook up question

^^^ Nice partial post quote form 4 years ago! And yes, it is possible to get a lousy electrician, so it is good to know your own equipment.

    M1031 generator ?

The links on above post seem dead. Hope these help. As far as I know the actual military TMs have not been cleared for public distribution so are not allowed to be downloaded on this site. If they are cleared, some of us have them and would be happy download them here.

Model DJEAM & Model DJBMA diesel engines

Also probably fit civilian Onan DJE, DJB, MDJE, MDJE, besides the 002s. Might want to advertise them on Smokstak old equipment/generator forum.

Sound proofing, is it worth the money and time?

Some file photos of soundeadening from some of the many older threads on the subject: I take the seat out, wash the crud off the floor & fix any rust and treat with rust inhibitor, Next I put down Rammat, like Dynamat, then paint with Lizard skin & paint with CARC substiute. Finish off with...

    6.2L Stalling Off-Camber? Nose Down?

As mentioned before, it could be air leak or bad lift pump. Testing the lift pump is easy. There is usually a hose coming off the top (passenger) side of the filter base. If not, add a hose to that nipple, put the hose in a clear container, open the black plastic valve, crank the motor, the...

    6.2L Stalling Off-Camber? Nose Down?

Great, have a beer to get the diesel taste out of your mouth and replace the filter. [:

    6.2L Stalling Off-Camber? Nose Down?

Change your fuel filter first, probably needs it anyway, and it may help your problem.

    MEP-802A fuel tank removal.

I have the same problem. The leak is so slow, it was only evident when there was ice on the slab that kept the fuel from being absorbed by concrete. Post below mentions the fix I have to do at some point...

    MEP-802 hose connections- assistance!

That is the petcock to drain antifreeze from block. It connects to radiator overflow tube down to anti freeze drain spout.

    MEP-802 hose connections- assistance!

Hose fitting type is SAE flair.

LMTV CAT 3116 Which Antifreeze for a drain and fill?

Sorry if a little of subject but I saw this and reminded me of something. What happens if the regular green type is mixed with the red diesel type?. What happens and how quickly? The reason I ask is I had to add some antifreeze to my wife's car due to leak, and all I had was the red HD...

    Tactical generator environmental modifications

This is an interesting thread & nice work. Is the ceramic bead sound deadener like 'lizzard skin'? I have some 'raymatt' & lizzard skin left over from quieting some CUCVs, it never occurred to me to put on my 802. I was running it yesterday in prep for today's blizzard, and noticed a lot of...

few questions on a Chevy for 4L 3.0 engine

Well I guess I was told wrong. I had a 153 Chev 4 in a '69 Kaiser postal jeep that I ended up putting a governor on and putting in a chipper. When I had it a machine shop, the owner and some other guys were oogeling it, and called it that, wanted to buy it for some kind of track car. It is...

few questions on a Chevy for 4L 3.0 engine

If it is a 4 cyl Chevy, as mentioned above, (the 'Iron Duke'), all the torque specs are the same a s Chevy 196, 230, 250 & 292 L6 family. The valves have the same hydraulic lifters as the other motors in this group and same adjustment procedure. Generally they do not need to be adjusted unless...

Starter problems or more than that?

My CUCVs are comfortable and trustworthy, and they don't have puddles of fluids under them either. Some folks might want to keep their trucks up better. You have a new modern truck with the nice cupholders, have seen it in a previous post. You know a lot about CUCVs, answer a lot of the...
