If it is even a little stuck, the bolt on the blower will sheer. Had to put a bar and pry between other nuts on face of blower wheel on 002 that had water in cylinder. It did free up & run.
The switch is under the dash on the left of steering column. It is run by a rod on the directional signal lever. Remove plate held on w 4 screws just under steering column and it is there. Same as civilian trucks of era.
It is good to be able to mess with the solenoid as a field repair to get a few more starts, but they are not that serviceable these days, May be worth getting a new one. If you can afford it, buy another starter and the rebuild the old one as a spare.
I tried this spare CUCV muffler on my MEP-002a s. On the one with the ASK, it makes it a lot more 'civilized'. While there is a lot of mechanical noise on the non ASK unit, the muffler makes a noticeable difference, especially if you move away and on the control board side of generator. The...
In general, do the components wear out at different rates on a board like this? Would it be good or practical to replace all components for a true 'rebuild' or can you replace a couple of components and expect to be all set for a while?
Been thinking about this last post of mine and understand why no one wants to answer it (besides the dead horse thing). Anyway, I want to thank all of the folks who post here and know electrical theory and code.
All of us getting great advice from this forum should realize that no one can...
So it is ok to ground frame as well in a non SDS system? This seems different advice again.
I am back feeding (in power outage mode w Interlockkit) to panel though old 3 pronged range plug I use for my welder, so this is a Non SDS system.
Have run it w frame still bonded to neutral and it...
My experience has been that the original 27MT starters work great and last a while, but when they fail, I use the 28MT gear reduction. The 'rebuilt' 27MTs often have a short life span. Have been running several 6.2s for years, and the same is true for the 12V civy units. The 27MT 'rebuilds'...
There is always something in an old truck that will rattle when shook. Find the rattle and shim, tighten or pad it. The root cause could easily be an out of round tire, especially on a M-1009. Good opportunity to check other front end components as well.
I have studied both the MEP-018a and the Marathon manuals. They both refer to the 12 leads as T-1 though T12. There is no diagram in the 018 manual I have that corresponds to the reconfiguration diagrams in the Marathon manual. I do also have an intact MEP-018, but it needs a bit of work to...
Have not got around to this modification yet. The M1031 12 KW alternator has 12 wires. Will it configure to 12 wire Phase/Voltage selector switch if it is rated for the current?
Another way to put this question is; Are the positions and outputs the same for all 12 wire generators ? As in if...
Took me a while to find this picture. This Blazer came from GL in 2010. It is pretty faded, but have seen pictures of this marking with tape on other tan trucks in 'Dessert Storm.'
