My first MEP-002a was a high hour unit with the turpentine smell, but all dried. Turned out the IP plunger shaft was sheared. Not sure if it was already like that, but I think it probably happened on my first starting attempt Later post in same thread relates to ASK unit too. permalink

While it may look and sound cool, modifications like this are not tactical or practical for daily drivers or real work trucks. If your doing it for fun, that's fine. If I was going to take the effort to soup up a vehicle, it would not be a 6.2 Chevy pickup.
I guess the TMs are the best way to send folks, if they, and the auto parts stores in their area, think an 86 Chevy pickup (or Blazer) is an exotic or antique.
Have thought about generator sheds as well. The removable sides verses big enough to work in. Removable sides allows for less expensive construction and probably no permit issues..(if you live in one of those communities) But if you are looking for a reason for a new shed. !!! Been thinking...
Nice project, perhaps you can save parts of the ASK that are harder to fabricate and used rusted ones as templates. And I know you will outfit your helper with hearing protection.
$4 k seems reasonable to me if it is nearby and nearly complete. If you buy at auction you will have to deal with some uncertainties, transport costs, waiting and probably a new driveshaft.
If swapping flashers changed anything, I would go ahead and get new ones. I always use a commercial flasher as they will last the lifetime of the truck, make a solid clicking sound and support any trailer or plow lights you might add to turn signal circuit.
At this point, I would replace flasher (2 pronged at bottom of fuse box) with a commercial grade. ($15 instead of $3) Or just swap the emergency flasher from above to test. When they are tired they can be current sensitive. Could be the switch if you say it seems loose. Other than that is...
Responsible folks always do the brakes 'on the other side'. Especially when one side was so bad. Hope you replaced the calipers and the the flex lines on both sides. Will save you grief later. Looks like you did a good job on the side you photoed.
I had a hydraulic hose made that bypassed the aluminum lines. It was my plow truck and I had no time to fix it and did not want to get to the hoses on the back of the engine in the snow. Left it that way until spring.
I have gotten several titles in Ma with a SF-97. Go to registry with properly fllled out; SF-97, GL invoice copy, RMV 1 form with stamp from your insurance company, if you are going to register it right away,( Stamp not necessary if just applying for title) And a blank check for title fee...
I don't know, I would try it with the 5/8 socket, with the glow plugs removed makes it spin even easyer. It may spin just fine, they sometimes do. But if you get the sense you are leaning on the ratchet too much, try the bar before you sheer off the bolt. Have broken enough bolts to have a...
