Why is this in the SS RALLY forum ???????, we are getting a lot of this lately, just post in where ever the dart lands, never mind if the the thread or post fits the forum title or not.
Anybody get any of the MK48s out of FL. this go-a- round, if so you need to KNOW that there is NO put to gether bolts, REPEAT NO BOLTS ( WE are sourcing shipping bolts now), these units came in as seperate units, some of the trailers still had the quick disconnects bagged.
Yep, complete units that sold were NOT complete units as the normal people think of complete units, the GL complete units (A+B) consisted of unit A of the complete unit sitting at point A, unit B of the complete unit is sitting somewhere between point B and point Z, but in NO circumstances is it...
As I said in a earlier post, the base does not want to load these trucks on standard flatbeds, today a FPU was not allowed to load on a HIGH flatbed, the trailer was about 10" higher then the ramp, it was thought that having the FPU climb that high to get up on the trailer was VERY unsafe, so NO...
AD, Be sure to add and tighten the connection bolts on that truck, we put enough in to get it on the truck, also just the air lines were hooked up, NO electrical., also REMOVE the FPU transport struts, this locks the rear axle on the FPU to the frame to help keep the nose dive syndrome to a minimum.
One more thing, the base does not want the power or compleat units LOADED on standard flat beds, they feel that due to squlley nature of the trucks steering, that a flatbed is to high to be safe, they are letting the DRIVERS load the flatbeds so far, can not say how long that will last, also...
Can be a one man job, ALL the boom inserts are removed, so only the boom foot/tip are installed when set up for travel, travleing with a long boom like that is real hard on the boom.
After reading ALL three pages, It has become very OBVIOUS that the recovery shackle is the only thing worth steeling and NOT the WHOLE cucv, this KNOWLEDGE should make cucv owners feel relieved knowing that when they wake up in the morning the cucv will STILL be in the driveway.
What about going to the work lights OR the warning beacons
I would turn ON the master, then filp the MYSTERY switch on, and see what lights up OR what happens, If the wrecker jumps up and starts to do the shake, rattle and roll, you will know that the switch is the ELVIS transformer CONTROL...
