Mike did you guys have any of the hi/low aluminum shelters in Iraq? And if so, how did they work? I'm thinking about getting one for a M1082 trailer and converting it in to a camper.
Thanks Floridianson. Since this posting back in July I've just been running with a standard size blade fuse and have not had any issues. I actually prefer them to the "tripping all the time" circuit breakers. I haven't lost one yet but in case I do I've got a variety with me in the truck now.
I would recommend simply going through the PMCS procedures in the TM. Yes lube everything but following the PMCS will have you checking all the fluid levels and making sure things are where they're supposed to be. Don't be surprised if your "running" truck is missing parts. That will take up...
Ground would be the 1st suspect in most electrical gremlins. Tinstar's suggestion is spot on but try the grounds to start and see if that fixes it then move on to the rest.
Ok, it's 2017 and time to start planning for the next go around.` We need more than 3 participants and 2 trucks this year. No excuses! You've got 10 months to get time off work and get your trucks ready (and I can learn to walk and chew gum at the same time so can drive too).
This time, now...
I had to replace the bulb but mine works great. Verified it Sunday when a friend was coming back from a spin around the block and backed the truck up the driveway.
You need to ask some of these questions to the AK DMV. Each state is different in what they will allow depending on how you're registering it. In TX I can go in with the paperwork and ask for a Former Military Vehicle Registration and they never see the truck other than a picture I have to...
Nice mods. I especially like the lights mounted on the antanae mounts. I might try something like that with a magnetic base and quick release plug so I could pull the lights for a show but still have them available to use for trail rides and such.
Not to be argumentative but I'd think a vehicle whose sole purpose is to haul a trailer should be ok to have one attatched. Something like a M109 with a MKT attached is a single vehicle with a piece of auxilary equipment. A HET is supposed to have a trailer with it.
In the end it doesn't...
And there were probably a ton of folks that wouldn't buy a M151 when they first started surplusing them because it "wasn't a REAL jeep." Everyone is entitled to their opinion but until they actually own one of these trucks (and I know there are those on this board that own one and hate them)...
I find it amusing all the folks saying they'd never own a LMTV and then trashing them. I've owned many MVs including deuces (still have one) and a 923A2. I'd take my M1078 over any of them.
