Hard shifting is normal. Some folks switch from 30w oil in the tranny to regular transmission fluid and that is reported to help some but still harder than a regular auto. Where is the velcro? There's usually a couple of pieces on the shift panel to cover the panel for blackout operations.
The stock location for the condenser is in front of the radiator. If you're going to mount it to the roof just get a roof mount style AC like an RV and skip all the hassles of correct engine mounts and pulleys.
The handles aren't a "zero tolerance" item, meaning there is wiggle room in there and they could be turned over without any change of the linkage. Barring seeing 3 different NSNs for door handles I would be skeptical that there are 3 different models.
That's the 1st thing I thought when I saw that. Are both doors like that? If so then I'd guess someone just put them in the wrong doors. If only 1 is like that then likely the unit was in the field or the mechanics only had a left hand door and had to make it work for one that was broken on...
You might PM NDT. He has both style trucks and could probably give you more info. I really don't see a problem with adding AC as none of the parts have anything to do with the top but haven't seen the inside of one to know if there would be an issue with the evaporator.
Most LEOs west of the MS aren't quite that anal (well maybe in CA). Now if someone is being an a$$ and just hitting his horn for no reason I could see a noise complaint or something but doubt they'd get a ticket just for honking a horn. Plus my new horn is "military specific" so my vehicle...
I would have been in the market for the tailgate a couple of weeks ago but already found one. There probably is a market but shipping will be a major issue.
Basically it's 20 miles to the closest place to find a correct fitting and I had the other parts on hand so expediency (and a 40 mile round trip) was the reason. Unfortunately I didn't have an available plugged hole like Keith Knight had. I don't know if that's a difference between a straight...
Keith_J was by today and got the new air horn installed. I won't take up a bunch of space about how we did it vs how it's been done before so if you'd like more info about it see:

I will say it is so much more manly...
We didn't drill the tank we took one of the 1/2" brass elbows out, drilled tapped, then soldered the new fitting to that (the picture shows the fitting reinstalled with the additional threaded fitting sticking out). No leaks and no concern with the tank integrity. Also we did this on the wet...
