For what it's worth I just bought a 923ESP from a fellow member and friend on this site. It drives like a dream. Caterpillar engine and an Allison push-button transmission. Straight air brakes, but in Texas I don't need a CDL because of that alone. So far I'm very happy with the truck and it...
If Rapco's watching this thread, I sure do need my case of lusterless green spray ordered earlier this week. Got a brand new 5 ton I can't wait to start touching up.
Thanks for the link; I've only owned a 923 now for about a week and am studying various things about the truck and trying to configure something in my head and on paper, but so far it looks daunting. Whatever will work must be attached to the frame, from what I've seen from (various wrecks)...
I'm working on this project for all of us; question: Is that pipe connecting the cab to the bed? Fastnova, I would like some pics if you have them of this.
Don't use ether; you'll eventually blow it up. Sounds like an injector pump issue. Your choice at this point, unless you find a more obvious tracing problem, is to pull the IP, or let somebody do it for you. It is not cheap if it is the injector pump.
My 2 cents is that vette needs to be driven. That's your baby, treat it as such. Or at least get it up in the bed of the deuce with virtually no angle on the ingress/egress.
I've been through this before and done it twice. Since you have no FDC, then it is likely the fuel injector pump hydraulic head itself. I've had to replace one of them (the hydraulic head) with one of Chinese origin. It has worked just fine, and the guys I had do it remarked that it was...
Getting down to 'nuts' and bolts again, is there anything wrong with letting stand waste motor oil in the hot sun and then cranking up about 8 inches above the bottom of say, a 55 gallon drum, the waste oil, and pouring it through a HEPA vacuum cleaner bag for filtration into your fuel tank of a...
Maybe if I could figure out how to heat, treat and filter all of this wmo I got laying around I could get back to Georgia and the South. It's why I lurk here. Maybe we could just create a possum rendering plant if the EPA would let us.
Wreckerman, I've got to meet you. Trying to get to one of the rallys, but duty seems to always call. However, when I do see you, remind me to tell you my numerous stories of coon hunts, bluetick hounds and, of course, possums.
A follow up post here for future reference. One of the questions I presented in this thread was whether or not you could jack up the radiator with the lower hose still connected so you could add shims (mudflap material or whatever) to the lower studs. The answer is yes. I did loosen the lower...
Doghead, it was either you or Recovry that suggested you could easier attach the radiator hose with the radiator leaning forward. I kind of did that while it was going in and it made things easier, but I found you have to really be careful of the winch hinge thing aft of the winch damaging the...
I was afraid you guys would come back with that answer; this means I got to pull the whole thing back off and go to cutting up mud flaps. Wondering if I can leave the lower hose on and lift it up on its bottom studs?
So I got my new radiator in and noticed when I turn the fan blade, it contacted the upper tank of the radiator. So I adjusted the upper bracket to angle the top of the radiator forward, and no more contact, but the clearance looks to be about one quarter to three eights of an inch. Is this...
