Must feel great to be back on the ball! Hopefully I'll be behind ya with mine soon...4 month gap of no truck progress for me and it's a bummer!
Truck looks good, look forward to seeing pictures as you progress.
Opened up the toolbox again today while the weather is staying nice...
I used spray on rubberized bed liner, and coated the entire underneath of my seat/battery area with it. I ended up picking up one of those marine battery boxes, so I installed that as well.
It isn't original I know...but...
I had thought about that...but I was sort of hoping to be able to get them locally for whatever reason...may have to call him back I guess!
I was also thinking about buying a new fuel pickup from from. The one I got from vintage powerwagons I am not satisfied with, as it doesn't have a return...
I run 15w40 in my M-37...at work we have 3 power wagons (64s all of em), and we run only SAE 30 in them...however they get NO use during winter months.
We use 80w90 in the diffs, and DOT3 brake fluid
Got the truck painted between the cab and the body...now the body is just sitting ontop of the frame awaiting a bolt down.
Now that I have the $$ to buy the appropriate parts, I would like to go to the local mom and pop-have EVERYTHING hardware store to get the bolts/support local buisness...
Gentlemen, their is a mechanic here on SS from the Colorado Forest Service who is in charge of building these things...hopefully he can chime in here and answer your questions!
I worked with one of these trucks about 6 years ago when in Colorado for a couple wildfire classes. If I remember...
I'd like too! We'll have to see...
I will have to add a fuel gauge sending unit in the future as well, my wiring harness is gutted, so I couldn't justify the $100 right now...maybe I will add the vent at the same time
As a side note...the new fuel pickup I purchased from vintage power wagons didn't come with a place to attach the vent line...unsure about what I will be doing on this matter for the time being
Got my re-built gas tank back today.
Got it done at Custom Radiator & Sales in Gardner, MA. They were a pleasure to work with, tank comes with a 5 year warranty. Lined the inside with 2 coats, and I had them top coat it as well.
I attached a picture of the tank previously...the shop actually...
Great! Thank you so much for the information, much appreciated.
I am going to pick up my tank now, I'll post my progress in my restoration thread as it is installed!
I am getting my gas tank back from being restored and coated tomorrow...I have a new fuel pickup and sending unit and gaskets in a box right next to me.
I realize this is PROBABLY a dumb question...but can some kind soul tell me what the correct screws are to attach these pieces to the tank? I...
This is a really cool thread, I'm glad it was resurrected! Looking forward to seeing your progress, best of luck to you!
I agree with what others have said here...you need an M-215 to go with it! :)
Just got back from a road trip...drove down to Uxbridge, MA today with my father. There is a power wagon parts yard down there, and the owner Dennis Sherman was a pleasure to talk to and deal with!
The website is Power Wagons Parts and after meeting Mr. Sherman, I would definitely suggest...
Good find and good save!
These things are relatively simple to work on, great trucks.
I'd say scrap the bed and pick a new one up...**** even a nicely done flatbed would look nice!
