I have replaced a boot on my truck with a new zipper boot. Not to bad here in the NE, so far so good. Use some RTV or silicone sealant on the zipper before you put the outer clamp on and that will seal up the boot so that it doesn't get any dust or dirt inside.
However mine's a deuce, not...
Drove mine to work on Monday, the first nice day of weather. A 70 mile round trip and she ran great! Stopped off at the local marina because a guy on CL had a boat with water mixed in the gas. That was a free 50 gallons or so which will mix nicely with my WMO.
I had the same problem with my hinges, pounding and heating, finally drive it to my mechanic and we took one side off and torched it hot enough to get it out in a vice. But since I had to pay him I just decided to order another set for the other side. Allot less trouble! Now my big mirrors...
John/Rick, I ran the unit the other day and was looking at the oil pressure, it stayed pinned at 50 after running 10-15 min. What could be the reason for this? I am hoping I don't have another thing that I need to fix..
Hey that looks great! I am sure there are plenty of people thinking of doing this. Just curious how normal house windows will handle the bumping around of the trailer on the road. Did you add any rubber cushion around them? Hope they don't give you any problems but it would be a concern of...
I had a similar problem with my deuce but it was the back wheels that were getting hot. I used a laser thermometer and the rear hubs were around 170 while the fronts were at around 100. I re-built the wheel cylinders and presto no more wheel dragging! After the same trip I took the temp and...
Finally got around to rebuilding my rear brake calipers. Not as bad as I thought! The rear drums were dragging a little and after a trip around town the rear drums heated up to around 180 when the fronts were around 105 degrees. Neither were leaking but after taking them apart one looked like...
So I wanted to clean up the old data plates from back when the deuce was a firetruck. There was allot of overspray on them. I used a white compound first but that took too long and wound up being a little abrasive on the black parts of the data plate. I found some Mothers Aluminum Polish so I...
I like the way yours looks. Do you have a way that the water can get out if you're driving in the rain? The way the Donaldson is designed it let's the water out and away from getting in the 4" pipe.
There could be a leak internally in the air pack. Check the "slobber tube" that comes down the side of the engine and see if any fluid is coming out there. Sometimes when there is an internal leak in the air pack it can vent out that tube and you'll never really see a leak. I just happen to...
Well this is just a stab in the dark but perhaps it's the fuel pipe for the AUX fuel tank? Not sure how big it is from the pics. You should also have a flexible fuel line with a cap on it that attaches to a 55 gallon drum. Perhaps that is the pipe that connects to the cap and goes down into...
Looks great Repo3004! I got to research turning up the fuel myself although all this pyro, boost and temp stuff is greek to me at the moment. I wonder since I don't have a turbo on the truck can I turn it up just a little and be OK without all that? Just curious, hope that's not too dumb of a...
Well I thought I noticed a performance gain at higher speeds 30-55. I was not downshifting as much to get up hills. Perhaps that's all in my head but also another true improvement over the standard mushroom cap is that the Ram air will not get covered in snow and clog the air intake. That is...
Should have taken those west coast mirrors off, I have seen people looking for those.. Looks like a few items on here that could have still been parted out.
Converted to Propane, Wow just goes to show you the versatility of these vehicles. You have your work cut out for you know! Best of luck with them. I am glad you were there to save them and that they didn't get scrapped!
