CUCV Electric GP card Backup Plan?

It's 3 components that fix 90% of everyone's problem. $2 in components and maybe 20 minutes of soldering/desoldering. 20 minutes and 2 dollars of risk with a 90% chance of saving 83 dollars? That's a good bet in my book.

Nice. Looks kind of like the back yards of a couple of members here!

Also, where do people get these trucks overseas? Are they surplused out to the local economy from NATO bases in Europe?

Very nice. Thanks for posting. What is that bed cover on the lead truck in the last picture?

    Glow plug card repaired

Just for future reference, mouser and digikey are also helpful sources of components.

CUCV Electric GP card Backup Plan?

Wow, so the heavy lifting has already been done. Nice. Putting that info in my notebook for future reference when my card inevitably dies.

CUCV Electric GP card Backup Plan?

What was damaged on it? What did you have to replace? I'll bet if enough people went through the trouble to try fixing these, we'd probably find that there's some common weak link component that fails and could be replaced with a better equivalent.

This. Get a soldering iron and supplies and go to town.

    I've Had a Good Run...

Now I really feel bad. I was supposed to go with him but was beat from the previous recovery. Like I said, if the transmission is toast, you can HAVE one of my humvee pulled transmissions. Assuming you don't care about having a park position.

    Replacement Batteries: Exide, not Optima.

I'll echo the sentiments on the used interstate series 31s. They're cheap (45 bucks) AND come with a 1 year warranty. At least from the place on Chule street in San Antonio. I've got those on one of my 5 tons, one of my deuces, and on my 10099.

Modifications I should do to my 1009?

Cool, if I can come look at it and take measurements before we install it, that'd be great.

Modifications I should do to my 1009?

Coked up combustion chambers with Waste veg oil or with waste motor oil? Or similar problem with both? I'm aware of the study the army did with waste motor oil and not too keen on using it in this for that reason. But waste veg oil seems like a pretty common thing in diesels. For the A/C...

Modifications I should do to my 1009?

Thanks, that's on the list of things to inspect and possibly replace if it needs it. Is there an improved version or were you just talking about preventative maintenance? If it needs it, I'm just going to go with the 62 dollar one at Oreilleys.

Modifications I should do to my 1009?

Ok, I just got a 1009 with 91k miles on it. I plan to keep it forever and drive it semi-regularly and as cost-effectively as possible. With that in mind, here's a few things I thought I'd bounce of you guys: 1A. Fuel mixing. 50/50 waste veg oil (thoroughly cleaned first, of course!) with...

    Sold my M1028A3

The centex people in Killeen probably will. They hauled a 5 ton for me from Ft. Hood to Beeville for a very reasonable price.

Would a used 6.2 diesel benefit from being taken down and retorqued?

There's some threads on here about rebuilding them with links to the company that sells them. They have kits for the 12v, and both types of 24V (gear reduced and direct drive). Also individual parts.

    6.2 debate.

I'm pretty sure he installed it himself.

Would a used 6.2 diesel benefit from being taken down and retorqued?

Thanks, I'll do that. How about timing belt? Is that something that, if it fails on a 6.2, will cause something to catastrophically fail? Took the 1009 on it's maiden voyage this morning. Filling station, then up on the highway for a few minutes. Checked the hubs after I got home and...

DB electrical. Are the American ones particularly more long-lived? From what I've read, it doesn't sound like it. I've still got the dead starter it came with. I'll probably get it rebuilt in San Antonio and keep it in the truck as a spare.
