RE: modeler
Stan, maybe now's your chance to get some done without her around to destroy all your work.
I know when everyone was showing pictures of their "work spaces" and computer desks there were a few who had models in the stash.
We could even include other toys, like the...
RE: TM
If you're printing it, make sure your printer isn't set for 2 sided printing. Might have to go back and print the even (or odd) pages separately.
You'll find the "back-up warning device" interesting if it works. A little bell in the hub or the axle that clinks as the wheels turn backwards. My guard unit had one for a while. The maintenance shop threw out the wood ladder that came with the truck, said it was too old and they ordered an...
Found this AD
Found this ad in my file from about 1990--came from one of the Auto Trader magazines. Don't know what happened to it . Doesn't look much larger than the Ramcharger behind it.
The pic is a blow up of one very small ad, so I hope the image comes through ok.
Nice truck. Even more rare than the XM410 which was a Chrysler prototype from 1959. Does Esarco make another 8x8? I thought I saw an ad for one (not a hard top crew cab) a long time ago.
AF crew cabs
I'd love to have one of these for a tow vehicle. Photos were taken June 04 at CRTC, Phelps Collins ANG Base Alpena. Only time I saw the truck on base. They did have a lot of "6 packs" standard bed crew cabs with bench seats, both Ford and Chevy. This one had buckets for 4 with...
missing fenders
the extended flat fenders in the drawing would explain the protrusion of the tires from the body.
Have fun, keep us updated, please.
And jasonjc, that thing on e-pay looks like its based on a Chevy Vega Wagon!
Thanks for the link, BC. It looks like a cross between an early V100 Commando and a Panhard VBL. What are the chances it's not on its original chassis? That frame sticking out in front just doesn't look natural.
Hey Rory,
See this on your signature line---XM???---If you post up some pics we may be able to help put a number to it. I am a wheeled armor fan and would love to help find its history.
Brian
That's probably the 275 in the pic, just a different trailer. I think he's still got the 348, using it for storage. I didn't make the show and have had a chance to chat with these guys lately.
Kenny, if that's my old M275 I'd never recognize it. Nice paint job, and the dent in the cab top is gone. I didn't have the M146. The trailer that went with it was a M348a2, but it didn't have the windows they wanted for a camper.
Directions
From the North on US 27, get off at the first Clare exit. Turn left under the freeway, and go 1 mile North to Jay's Sporting Goods/General Jim's Surplus and some motorcycle dealership. Corner of Surrey Rd and Old 27 North. The MV show will be at the far end of Jay's parking lot...
-10HR
I've got a TM9-2320-209-10HR hand receipt book available for $5. This is the line by line listing of all the available items with "used on" codes for which model truck carries which BII item. The best picture reference, though, is the -10 (no HR) manual. The TM9-2320-361-10 superseded...
The parade starts at 12 noon on Saturday. Form up is near the church and Village hall at the top of the hill.
There will be portable toilets at the ball field camping and display site, and access to the campground next door for bathroom and showers. Water is available at the campground also...
Parade time
Sorry, Lane. Forgot you missed last year. And the parade is not the main reason we're there. If you had called me to let me know you're interested, I could have let you know more about it. And there was no picture on the front page of the newsletter, just general information...
RIGHT ON THE FRONT PAGE!!
The July 3MT Newsletter had both the Canoe Marathon and the VJ Hillman Show on the front page, although there are no more details there than you and I posted above. A lot of the other details will depend on who takes charge at the site.
We don't "naturally" have...
RE: Here is the GLMVPA info from there site.
I was hoping people were coming-only had commitments from 2 or 3. I won't be there-didn't get my request in for the day off early enough. Found out at Grayling show that I need to get a lighter display case for the models, anyway. 4 young bucks or...
