RE: Michigan and surrounding states
Sorry, Lane. I've got the Museum event at Grayling. Since its a meeting for both the GL MVPA and the Museum Board, I've got the day off special for it.
use of captured equipment
Fogman,
It would actually be legitimate to paint the US built WW2 truck with German (Wermacht) markings as many of these trucks were captured and used as long as they would run. I believe the Squadron Signal publication "Panzer Markings II" has examples of markings...
back end photos
I guess the XM708 dump box does actually go under the "bodywork" category.
Here are a couple pics of Pete's truck that might show the back end to better advantage.
Cabell,
Rather than steal Keith's thread, here's a pic of Pete K's XM708 at one of our fall trail rides. Don't know if this let's you get a vision of the mud flaps or not. I looked for one from the back, but all I have are a lot of the front end. (The photographer was riding in the back of...
nice job!!!!!!
Keith---
FANTASTIC!!!!
Okay, can I have my truck back now?
Thank you for bringing that truck up to this standard. You've done a beautiful job, and the seabee decals aren't THAT bad.
Now I've got to print out these pics so I'll be able to recognize it...
left hand light
Keith,
The light shown should be the left hand (driver's) side taillight, IIRC. The right hand has a second, smaller BO slot for the black out brake light-it was only on one side in the original truck.
Are you pulling the composites to put the originals back on?
Is that the Vintage Video with the vehicle comparison tests at Aberdeen? Comparing the performance with the standard chassis in the "unimproved areas" and "hog wallow"? Great video. I've got a copy because it also showed the XM410 I used to own.
Not from Alpena
Mark,
Welcome to SS! Where you moving to? I'm pretty sure we can hook you up with some SS members wherever you go.
I take it you're hanging onto the M37 you got from Northern Michigan. I remembeer some of our discussion on G741 when I got mine from Harrisville.
PS-I've got...
Bjorn, just curious- why'd you move the headlights back to the body? The in service pics you put up show them out on the winch bumper like yours were to start with.
Michigan Otter
One of our Museum members used to own an Otter. We took it out for out winter "snowmobile" rides. He sold it to a guy in England a few years back. I'll see if I can find some pics to scan and post.
