Have you checked the flexplate for any damage?

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Does the motor on a 8274 use more juice than the newer style winches?

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Figgered I'd finally test the two Warn winches that came with the 85 M1008. The XD9000 that's mounted inside the rear bumper on the 85 M1008 needs the motor rebuilt. The 8274 that I want to use on the 86 M1008 worked just fine... and it's a unit from 1980!! Hopefully I'll have working winches...

    7520lbs and 130 hp

6.5 Optimizer will drop right in there with a different oil pan. Put a turbo on it, adjust the injection pump and let it fly..

    Super Lug 9x16 tires

As if the drone of a 6.2 diesel isn't bad enough.. lol

    Engine swap poll

The 6.2 in my 86 M1008 has some extra blow by and it's losing compression. If I can't find another used 6.2 in decent condition, I'll just rebuild what I got provided there's no cracks and the crank is still good to go. I don't mind the 6.2 diesel. It does what I want it to....

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

    Obviously needed a new flexplate...

    Engine swap poll

Have you hit any of the off road trails in the north Ga mtns with your cucv? I'd love to do it, but it's at least a 3hr drive from west Carroll county..

    Harmonic balancer and waterpump

I just used Dorman factory OEM style balancers. They worked just fine.

    Harmonic balancer and waterpump

It's a wise idea to go ahead and swap in a new harmonic balancer on any 6.2 diesel. These engines are 30 plus years old and while the rubber may look fine, it's dried and hardened. A new unit makes a world of difference. I did it to both of mine and I'm glad I did.

    Super Lug 9x16 tires

Well the 900-16 STA Super Lug will be a no go. Apparently they're not even close to the advertised 36.3in tall. Those Accelera Badak's may be worth looking into.. they're the advertised size and also a radial.

    Super Lug 9x16 tires

I checked their website and they have them listed as radials. I gotta admit that I've never seen those tires before...

    Super Lug 9x16 tires

Are those bias ply or radial? Get back to us when you get to drive them..

    Super Lug 9x16 tires

No highjacking at all, I appreciate the feedback

    Super Lug 9x16 tires

Buddy of mine runs 33x12.5x15 TSL bias ply on his rig. Obviously not the same road ride as a radial like my KM2's, but they were not bad either when I rode in it. It's just personal preferences for a rig that is not a daily driver. To each their own..

    Super Lug 9x16 tires

Umm.. no. Just wanted feedback, but thx! An Interco SSR 35X10.5X16 radial would be ideal. I just can't stomach the current $365 price tag for each tire. To be honest it's looking like the expense of regearing the truck is the way to go.

    Super Lug 9x16 tires

Any specialty tire is not going to be cheap... lol, checked the prices of anything from Interco recently?? My 86 M1008 sees quite a bit of off road time and it's not a DD, so it's not going to bother me. I also want to stick with a tall skinny tire for this truck. My 85 M1008 already has 315's....

    Super Lug 9x16 tires

They do offer a tubeless version as well which is what I would opt for.
