Sweet... good to hear. I think some of the pricing on having an inj pump rebuilt has to do where the shop is located. I think it wound up costing $535 for a local shop in rural west Ga to rebuild my inj pump.
I'm sure this may have been asked before; has anyone ran the Super Lug biased ply 9x16(36.3x10.4x16) tires on their CUCV truck? Good, bad or ugly? Just curious how they performed overall..
Not sure where to start with the 86 M1008... lol. Had to replace the radiator, rebuild inj pump and fix the glow plug system. Along the way several electrical gremlins were fixed and swapped in a new harmonic balancer, water pump and power steering pump as well. We also figured out the engine is...
I can already see that some fabricating work on the brackets for the AC will have to be done. One of the reasons I bought the truck was because of the AC added to it. Here in Ga the summer can get stifling hot and humid... think sauna like conditions. AC is a must have at times. Plus I keep that...
Didn't do anything to the 86 M1008... I've had the 86 M1008 since late July 2018 and all I've used it for was to run errands. Up until the other day, I haven't had it no further than 12 miles from the house. Well, the other day the ole truck got pressed into daily driver duty for work. I filled...
Installed a new passenger side alternator belt and a new power steering return line on the 86 M1008. Sounds simple right? WRONG! Someone before me installed a Vintage Air AC kit and it's all jacked up. None of the belts and pulleys line up. The return line fitting on the power steering pump is...
Ya never know what we're going to get with these old trucks regardless of what the odometer reads. I briefly toyed with the idea of adding a turbo to my M1008, but decided to leave as is. I wanted the 6.2 to last a while, so I made sure the fuel system was working as it should and put a new...
What doghead said...
It's been single digit temps with a stiff wind and both of my m1008s' have never failed to start... it just takes a lil longer for the motor to build up heat.
Depending on manufacturer, 35's vary in size. My BFG KM2 315 75 16s' where not even close to the advertised 34.8in tall. They barely measured 34in. Coopers tend to run a lil smaller as well.
I tried to find one along with the correct motor mounts for my 79 K20 when I was going through the rebuilding process and could not find one. I was honestly surprised... and yes those things are hard to kill.
