This idea sounds workable, maybe. Has anyone tipped the trailer onto it's tail and removed the bed, tipping it back, and supporting both the trailer tongue from falling forward (with a 2x4) , as well as keeping the bed from flipping backwards, again with 2x4's, then reversing the process...
A thought I've been playing with is to do a "sleeper bob". I did this once with an ambulance chassis and it was a blast (Forgive the bad pic quality. I lost all the pics on a crashed computer and had to take this one off of some unnamed service ). I thought about doing this eventually...
Did anyone incorporate springs into mounting their beds to the truck, as originally mounted? Is it really necessary? From other posts my conclusion would be a "no".
As for mounting the bed, I did search, but I'm hoping for that touch of brilliance someone has used that I've missed. Getting...
I agree with what Barrman wrote about in his last post: I think we need to get this behind us and start planning the March event.
But things being the way they are, I must respond to nofearnohope's "hissy fit/temper tantrum" statement/rant.. I'll do it the same way I did responding to...
Runk, USAFSS,
This is exactly what I am talking about! We have to be able to get people to commit to something in a way that it's not so easy to bail on, to protect the funds that come in (already inquiring about this one), and to make a deal with someplace that is fair and doable. I will...
This is in response to Barrman, and it is written with respect for him. Instead of the regular quote system, I have interspersed my responses in red, his in purple.
Lincoln on his own about 2 years ago started posting about having a gathering. Nobody volunteered a place to hold the event...
Exactly what I was thinking. Mind you, I wasn't thinking it was a GOOD idea, but an idea nonetheless. I have seen a couple of bobs that used some sort of larger trailer suspension for the rear axle, but even these looked to be overkill, and a bit iffy to boot. I'd've cut up the 105 if I hadn't...
My son Badga the Badger has been the one to follow this thread about the rally, but both of us have busted our backsides bobbing our deuce, and the deadline was to be ready by the rally. Tail lights getting hooked up was all that was left for us to be able to go. An hour of work. But leave Badga...
WE got it going today. WOO HOO! fat lady sings My guy went on Steel Soldiers and read up on everything he could, and the first thing he tried was adjusting the brakes. He believes that it was the other axle that was stopping the truck before and that this axle was terribly out of adjustment. Got...
I think I know where that extra brake fluid went to. The original problem with the brakes was that the 3 way brake line junction that is under the drivers side of the cab, about 3" in, got stripped when I put it together. When I got it all hooked up I tried pumping up the brakes. Yeah, now I...
I have the help we're going to need tomorrow to get our truck up and running! My thanks go out to Littlebob and to Doghead who have both graciously offered to help. Thanks guys!
Very good advice indeed, though I'm trying to avoid this last suggestion (but I am thinking it). I did get a supportive PM this AM, but he hadn't bled brakes in awhile. I just talked to my friend and he's been going over the TM and said that things looked normal for a brake bleed, but he hadn't...
I appreciate your words. Much of my frustration comes from the fact that I'm not working on it myself because of the bad elbow. I did email the tech manual to my mechanic and he'll go over it. I'll also print out a copy as well. Yeah, a brake system is nothing to mess with and that's the point...
The problem is that I don't think it is simply a matter of doing the brake bleed (though it could certainly be simply that). It's more of a troubleshooting thing that I thought someone might be willing to help with, (though I've received no PM's as of yet.)
You wrote "I recommend you educate...
What is your problem? Are you trying to promote the hobby, or to discourage others who are not up to your particular level of expertise? Do you even care? Anyone with a lifetime of professional mechanical experience, a shop full of tools, and maybe a 20 ton crane can do a bobber, but how about a...
Love your icon! The problem is that I, myself, am not doing this. I'm merely assisting within my abilities ("OK, pump the pedal and hold it down.") I have an aquaintance who is doing the work. I also have a bad arm injury that keeps me from going under the truck (not to mention a near complete...
