Maybe we should move on and as said just let the OP decide to use or not. I did contact Meritor and they advise not to. I like they say advise or recommend and cover there donkey.
No worries I don't do that thing myself most of the time it's the Mods. I just wanted to see how far you were from me and now I know.
A hop, skip and a jump.:driver:
Just one opinion but fun to watch. What else is there to do when it's raining.https://www.bing.com/videos/search?q=youtube+anti+seize+and+torque&view=detail&mid=34F03C9BE9419E13164734F03C9BE9419E131647&FORM=VIRE
Sorry but as per rules your location needs correcting. I have a military 5 ton expandable truck with a lift gate if it is correct we might make a deal. Believe it can be removed one way or another. The trucks are 60 miles from my home and next time I go there I could take some pics.
You know me I like to push right or wrong but this is a discussion forum. I am will to bet the Merritor engineer first said with all new studs, thimbles and nuts we recommend a dry torque with a couple drops of oil. I bet they put nothing in writing to the use of anything but a couple of drops...
Because of this thread I bought the broken thimble tool plus a very pricy torque wrench to do my wheel nuts. This is because now with the 915 freightliner and my trailer with the new S cam axle I hope to be on the road more. A friend is trying to talk me into the cross country military convoy...
Found this. How would we teach a person that has limited experience with what the lash should feel like. No we would use a dial indicator to double check what we have done. We seem to think the old TM's are the bible and just because I did it that way does not make it correct. In one of your...
I don't know Timken says use a dial indicator so we take the time to do it right these days. Thought you even said it awhile back dial indicator was the only correct way. What if it is a customer then he has to pay the price. I will do my own old military stuff as said the TM's way but as I said...
OP talks about walking the rollers up race to there correct place in another thread. So sounds good to me and I don't believe you could ever correctly feel the lash without a dial indicator. So guess we barn yard them or buy a dial indicator. I barn yard.
Well looks like you got it so I just ordered mine. Looks a little different and says it is limited use 4 to 10 times depending on abuse. I just need it to work once and it paid for it's self in no head ache. It was 54 bucks shipped and I much rather spend 54 bucks than to pull a hub or be stuck...
No it is a good question. They don't say percisely why but something about RP618 which must be an industry standard. It was not said before in this thread but in other threads the dial indicator was talked about. So if we want to do it right then the high preload then preload then dial indicator...
I tell you what South East buy it use it and I will buy it from you. You just pay shipping to me. Yea what do you do if someone is on the road and this happens with a inner flat. Seems like no matter what your going to pull the hub, repack the bearing and replace the inner seal and the stud to...
The question is how much you want to do. You could pull the injectors and put kind of lube down into each cylinder. By pulling the injectors you could double check they were two hole injectors before you install the motor. You could pull the center plug on the IP Head and put some lube down...
