As long as those are USA made replacement bolts, I think we have a winner.
It was re-torqued/reused bolts that were causing the problems if I recall.
Maybe my 1985 production non-rebuilt engine is looking better.
Other than getting the tank professionally cleaned by a tank shop? Biodiesel and ATF have the reputation for breaking anything in the fuel system loose.
Mine was/is the wiring going into the flasher unit. (Caught sight of 3 inch sparks... gotta love tracking 24v wiring issues!)
I will have to repin my cannon-plug to fix it and retest the unit. But if it helps it was doing the exact same thing as yours.
His bowtie washer is also split in half.
The head bound and sheered the washer, and the button got beat up.
If the main shaft can be saved, the same lapping process kenny in Wisconsin would seem to be called for, as well as the parts.
Keep it up man! You have the problem cornered. You can...
Short answer... keep your eyes peeled for people parting out and make friends with local guys. Parts in this hobby are not well advertized outside of the big boys with big prices.

Hope this helps and keep going man! You can do this.
Check the grounds and the terminals.
If you have any cheap aftermarket "cut and clamp" cable ends, they would be the first suspects.
It's not serious in all likelihood. You get a bad contact at a main cable connection, but one that can run the radio and lights... then the high current burns...
You had enough crud to plug the filters... so you bypassed them.
I hope it was a very short trip and you got very lucky, or you just sent a bunch of stuff through the HH.
Replacement filters are cheap. Spin ons are cheaper if you run WMO/WVO and will be cruding up filters on a regular basis...
White smoke typically means a head gasket.
Whole take out engines can be had for $400, giving you one to use for parts and learning.
Seriously, we need some pictures.
Just in case the "Thank" button doesn't say it well enough, keep up the good work on yours. This is one of my favorite builds, and I can't wait to see where you go with this.
