Amen. The farm has eaten a huge chunk of time.
The truck takes a back seat to making sure the dogs are warm and dry this winter.
The deuce survived all this time without a new shirt or shoes, she can wait a bit longer. But man is it tough to walk past and not work on her!
It's a long way down on my list of priorities (Unless I found a used one in my lap)
But as far as I recall, getting the pig out with the axle on the truck is a bit of a trick.
Weekends are work, weekdays are class and work... time off is a subjective concept.
For the truck, I make time.
I'm still working on the printing money part. 2cents
I would give him a call in a week or two on the small truck parts. He might have it, but not that I have seen.
He has a ton of M35 and 5ton parts, as well as the best price on surplus boots around. (Bellevilles /Altamas and Mickey mouse)
Micro-balloons and latex = sound deadener
Micro-balloons and high temp paint = thermal insulation.
I thought there was an acrylic balloon as well. They aren't all glass are they?
True... But I think he might like some help hauling a bunch of parts to a big rally to turn a profit some weekend.
I might try to make a list of common parts by photo, nsn & part number and new and used price for most of the common M35A2 parts I know he has. It would give him a leg up on his...
Maybe next summer we should convoy up to see him. Or drag him to the biggest SS rally we can find with our trucks loaded full of his wares... let him see his trucks and introduce him to people. (Most of the Michigan folks seem to know him already)
I don't know... I'll figure out something. At...
Dennis lives up to his word. "No problem, just give me some lead time when you need it."
The two best decisions I have made with this truck were associating myself with this site and you guys for advice, and waiting to buy the truck from someone I trusted like Dennis.
I don't know how...
By the way... for anyone who thought my recommendation of Dennis as a stand-up person to deal with might have been overstated. I had a problem with the trans in my truck, due to no fault on Dennis' part, or mine. He made it right.
Consider that when you look for parts or trucks. When the...
Another 5ton?
These guys are after the big toys. I would suspect a logging operation if we include the bucket truck/cranetruck, the snocat/tracked tractor, and this one as being related thefts.
They aren't worth enough stripped or scrapped to justify this wide reaching of a theft ring.
On...
They are flipped. I checked the pic on a bigger screen. The center give it away more than the tire position in the well. It just looks odd from that angle with those tires.
That looks like a very clean beast you have there.
I just sent the dreaded email to Dennis with the details.
Thank you to M-35tom and everyone else who gave me the straight but tough answers on the trans rather than offer to sell me a bunch of parts to try to patch it together. Your honesty and integrity over making a quick parts sale are too...

Hey Gimp, did that head make any difference?
I happen to have that LDS465 1C pump but the number on the Ambac tag doesn't seem to match either the 101 or the 100 part number.
Just curious.
I'm going to replace it.
From what I can see, it just isn't economically viable to try to replace all those gears with pitted surfaces. By the time I pull it all apart I'll have done more work and spent considerably more money than just swapping it out.
How soon I can possibly do it is...
