For those who want to do this little experiment themselves, here is the valve we're talking about.
It is located between the filter canisters on the top of the filter assembly. You will either have a valve or a ball. Remove it and the spring. Reinstall the plug and try and start your truck.
Now there must be ground rules for this bet. Since we where originally talking about this "none" running truck, your truck must be none running for a week. Also there must not be any "residual" pressure in the "Hydraulic Head". My truck will start on the first turn of the switch. That is just...
I would need someone I trusted there to verify it. Lets face it, your not the most "impartial" individual when it comes to anything I say. I believe you would do almost anything to try and prove me wrong especially since it was I who solved that HH problem after you argued with me for days...
There is a Brake Rebuild shop that is installing new stainless steel liners in the worn out bores. A bit pricey but that is a option for later when there is no more left. I've found the "air-canisters" to be the biggest problem. Most are so pitted the seals will not seal or get torn up from...
Now you guys are barking up my favorite tree ! I've been a avid reader since I first learned to read. I own over 10,000 books at last count. That was over 20 years ago and I've added quite a bit to it since, so I really have no idea how many books I actually own now. Mostly Sci-Fi Fantasy. The...
I think that will work great for what you need it for Monty !
Also hears a big shout out to you for being a really great guy ! That hard top I got from you today is really going to come in handy !
Again Thanks so much Monty !
Rustystud.
Reminds me of the time I bid on "5" file cabinets and won them for a silly bid. When I got there to pick them up there where over 50 of them !!!!! It was my responsibility to remove them all too ! I just had my pick-up truck. Thankfully there was a metal recycling container close by. I was able...
Capt Ahab was given a "bum rap" in the book. He was in reality just a very "dedicated" individual ! Who gave his all to complete a task. Such devotion to duty should be applauded !
So how are you proving this ? Have you actually "taken" out the pressure relief valve and seen pressure to the Hydraulic Head ? When I was making my own filter assembly and I removed the pressure relief valve I had "no" pressure to the HH.
Did you have "gauges" on the engine verifying this...
No, that's not quite right. When I said the fuel meets up at the junction, I was referring to the "T" coming out of the filter housing. The pressure relief valve is "inside" the housing and exits to the ""T" where all the other lines converge. So you will have total circulation of the fuel...
Actually the whole case is stronger. I've documented it here before. They (GM) knew they had to beef-up the whole case to handle the stress put on them by the military. Many "racers" found this out years ago and started buying up surplus cases for their "Hot Rods" . Now of course they use the...
The in-tank pump can only reach between 10 and 12 PSI of pressure. The injection pumps "booster pump" supplies the main pressure in the deuce system. That is why you can actually get a deuce to run with a bad in-tank pump, as long as the fuel system has no leaks and sucks air. The "booster pump"...
I had to go through four "air-pacs" before I could get enough good parts to make one good one on my first rebuild. Then I just started to buy recent take-offs from running trucks. They at least had a chance of being rebuilt.
Yes, there are some really great guys on this site. There are also some "not so great" ones sadly. I lost over $600.00 for trusting one here a few years ago. Just saying, be on your guard.
