Whats the difference, BMY vs AM General, if any ?

We had the conversation of shipping without it on the one you have. I couldn't remember width and the reference I posted must be wrong as well. Did the OP ever say why he wanted a long bed?

Whats the difference, BMY vs AM General, if any ?

I guess what I was thinking is a different truck, an M812 (https://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?38081-M-812-Bridge-Truck). 812 must be what I saw in southern Indiana because it was way over 8'6".

Whats the difference, BMY vs AM General, if any ?

Wes....isn't the bridge truck bed over the legal width limit?

Whats the difference, BMY vs AM General, if any ?

71DeuceAK, you hit upon why I was asking about the 927....it's rare and most I've seen were kind of pricey. I didn't know how many were made with the 250, but I expected it was not a large number. I certainly can see the long wheelbase for some needs but the extreme back overhang would...

Whats the difference, BMY vs AM General, if any ?

Do you have a 927 located that is the 250 or are you making your short list before going shopping? Why the long bed?

Move 2 Deuce from Martinsville, Indiana, IN to GA

I have a friend that has hauled (2) 5 tons on a drop deck for me. Best prices are cash...around (perhaps under) $2 loaded mile. Is it a private seller and what else do they have...just curious?

    Batterys

Yep....what he said! I had some do it in a matter of a couple of weeks....take a fully charge battery down. If I replace, I go to two 8D bus batteries, 1400 cca, because replacing 4 is more expensive. I wasted a fair amount of money on golf cart batteries learning to replace them all. Oh...

What did you do to your trailer today.

Good catch. There are some NOS 12.50x16.5 around. I recently saw a thread where they had a few tires and wheels ready to go. Maybe a search would bring it up or someone had a WTB answer. I like the 1061 because of the low deck height. Sometimes I think about lengthening the tongue or...

What did you do to your trailer today.

Got the equalizers built for the dexter axles and attached it to the M929. Not welded out but good enough to see how it pulls. Now the M35 bed gets fitted and hinges built.

    Sets of hard doors..

Patracy, I got an email with the photo's but they don't seem to show up here. Have you sourced any of the components as "off the shelf" items, especially the window? The door latch seems fairly common. I like the one (like your picture) with a pull out T (tool box) and a lock. Would be cool...

    Sets of hard doors..

I cut my teeth on fiberglass building a Vari-Eze (Rutan) from plans, so have a handle on strength, types of glass and kevlar and reinforcement. Please post up some of the hardware pictures.

    Sets of hard doors..

Cheaper or easier??? People fill niches all the time when things are hard to find. Being that responses say they are taking them off and destroying them, apparently finding original at reasonable (surplus) prices may be more difficult, not easier. I have enough fiber to make the molds if...

    Sets of hard doors..

I'll bite. I have fiberglass available as scraps in chop mat and directional cloth to experiment with a mold. We can make most metal parts/ have sheet metal shop available. Who has a (perfect) set to take a mold from, near Indiana? Please post up some good pictures of the doors, window...

    M936a2 Chassis Dump Trailer

I have made trailers from truck rear ends on a smaller scale and they work just fine. I'd keep it as long as possible to have leverage in a turn. A 20' bed would haul a lot, but is the frame longer? Here is an idea..... make a semi tractor 5th wheel mount off the full length frame...

2000 mile road trip in an FMTV

Does this model need to have the front and rear axle driveshafts? I'd consider taking them out on a 5 ton or deuce.

I think we need a dash cam.

M1082 trailer manual, anyone got it in PDF?

Yes, especially on hard surface with good wheels. My (former) shop had a 10 ton overhead crane. Man do I miss that.

M1082 trailer manual, anyone got it in PDF?

Yea, me too. Been thinking of an A frame on a truck with winch, for lifting and moving things.

    M35A2 Chip Truck

98G, let me know when you see M929's cheap! I haul 15k in my M929A2 and it's about perfect, but going 20 miles with 4k of chips would not be very efficient. The bed is only 10'. At least a deuce has 12'.

    .

I certainly agree with you about supporting it. Same with the direct mount PTO hydraulic pumps, they should be supported to the back of the tranny.
