I wish I could afford all the variations! This dump truck is just too cool to pass up, it's nice that it's one of the more useful variants too. I'd hate to have seen it cut up, which I guess was a possibility if no one picked it up. I got it for a good price, hopefully I'll be able to get the...
Yep, this will give me a lot of the small parts that the dump truck is missing such as the front driveshaft, a few winch pieces, maybe a usable hard top too. My goal before the snow flies is to get the donor truck all apart while leaving the dump truck together. I'll keep looking at the gasser...
Post a picture of your turn signal lever, it should have them stock. Typically you turn it to the right, then pull out the stop and turn right once more.
Got the dump truck engine running today! Well, not the one in the truck but the one in the donor truck.:x Looks like the m59 might end up as an "m59a2". My father won this 1967 m35a2 w/w at auction, it showed up last night and it's a little rough. It's had some really terrible wiring work...
Yep, you can see the profile at the lunette is a match for the "medium" bar. Also the bar in the original post has the MWO collars welded on, which I've only seen on mediums. The "light mediums" like on the left weigh a fair amount less and are great for towing the smaller trucks. They're...
We filled the cylinders yesterday, but no hill to park it on.:D It's locked up pretty solid right now, looks alright under the valve cover though. We lifted the bed up today to take a better look underneath. Not too bad, the lift cylinder isn't hooked up right now. The driveshaft from the...
Thanks for the comments everyone. I too think George would be happy to see this truck back in VT, and back in use. Now that it is operational work on it has slowed down. Eventually we'll fix up and paint the cargo box and the racks and bows.
Even though most of these have been posted in...
Today we threw a few tires on the back so it doesn't look so goofy, not that it's going to be going anyway soon - the motor is stuck. The owner said it hasn't run for about 10 years so that's not surprising. The bed has had and currently needs more rust repair. It's pretty straight though, and...
Maybe someday it'll be operational again, until then it's work! I did get to "drive" it about 45 miles today. Of course, it was hooked to the pipeline truck, and it was pouring rain...
Yeah I'll have to be on the look out for the cab protector, I also am going to have to find one of...
They are lock ring wheels, although people often incorrectly call them split rims (which are much more dangerous). Any decent truck tire shop should work on your wheels without issue.
It's starting to look a little more like the original after cutting of some of the reinforcements off the bed. We also cut off the front 4 bed mounts so we can weld them back on in the right spots. Only a few more holes to drill in the frame...
The first pic is the m59, the second is the bed which is sitting on an m35a2 chassis right now. There's a little assembly required. You don't see 2.5 ton dump trucks too often, and most are the standard wheelbase m342 trucks. I think the bed on the bobber is longer than the m59 bed.
Here's the truck I couldn't live without, an m59 dump truck project. This one has seen some use over the years. I've got a couple of those 14.00x20 NDCCs too, they would certainly look cool on the bobber. 11.00s are heavy enough for me though.
Here's a far away pic of the underside of the...
