Looks good. Did you get it green or did you hafta tint it that color? Id be interested in knowing how durable it is. Gotta be better than Hurculiner!

Thats been my thought. I have a rubber bumper on the top of the tailgate to prevent it from hitting the rear landing leg when its down and damaging the paint. But the leg isn't always down.
What are the ones on the 105s?

I REALLY REALLY like that idea. In fact i have some pics from your other posts saved for that to reference to. I may just do that. I was just thinkin it would be easier for loading or unloading with it all the way down, out of the way.
I do like the sitting on idea, and I guess it is a stronger...
True dat, but soldier one and soldier two didnt pay to get it painted and go thru all the work to get er fixed up to her current condition. I mean I understand the concept, a little paint scratch is no big deal, but with this color, all imperfections show and seem to be magnified
So Ive noticed a few of these trailers have the tie down clevices and brackets on the back. Mine didnt when I got it. But I wanted them back there. So I had some made and welded em on where they should go.
Not long after I did, I figured out why it didnt have them. When the tailgate is opened...
DARN, I checked the numbers on mine after reading that and thought I could start to tell something about the history of it. Unfortunately, mine didnt end with the year. Mine was recreated from the original numbers on the tailgate, but its a 52.
The second number is the number that is welded on...
I did mine without an SF97. Its a 1952 so I told em it has had who knows how many owners. I tried doin mine just in paperwork, but they told me they needed to see it. So I brought it in, and just about every clerk in the office had to come out and look at it, they didnt know what numbers to use...
Pretty cool! I like those. I think I saw one or maybe two in an old abandoned USFS facility not 2 miles up the road from my fire station. Maybe Ill go check em out and see if tehy are gonna get rid of em. They have been having contractors come by to bid demolishing the compound, so maybe Ill get...
I am a little confused after reading many posts. Is this trailer really an M101A1? Is there such a trailer as just a plain M101?
After studying your posted pics and comparing them to my trailer, I believe you have a "plain" M101. The wheels are the same as the Dodge's from that era. I am...
Its local "Valley Oak" from here in the central valley of Ca. Very hard, harder than normal oak. Had to soak it with Thompsons to get a good coat to protect it from sun more than wet, since its in my garage.
I like it.
Silly question though, since mine is different, what do you do with the electrical cable when you plug it in? I mean its looks really long, doenst it drag? Mine is shorter, its only 6' and it hangs nicely with enough slack, but doesnt come close to dragging.

I tried vinegar also, didnt do a thing. Thats another thing that leads me to beleive its some kind of chemical reaction of the tin.??.
Isnt there some kind of reaction between metals that could be the cause of it?
Works good. I tried this after getting similar advice a while back. Works real good. THe problem with my plate is that it has some really strong.....almost like hard water calcium deposits. I tried to get it off with steel wool, finest sandpaper I could find, lime and scale remover, bathroom...
