Rescued this old water pump from the University of Maryland-College Park yesterday. Hooked up a surplus 15-ton rated pintle hitch to my Durango and hauled home very smoothly. The guy at the site wasn't sure about the condition of the wheel bearings or the tires. I responded the bearings...
Does anyone have a good cabling diagram showing all the correct cables and hookups that are required when installing a RT-524 radio set, when used with a VIC-1 intercom system?
Anyone here ever put a CB radio in their deuce? Can other listeners hear you over the sound of the engine? Is there a noise-quieting CB radio out there that can filter out a lot of the background noise?
Got a new computer - and in going through old photos on my computer, I found from years back I never shared. These were from the last Aberdeen to be held on dirt for a portion of the show - and the first one at the ballpark where it is now. Hopefully this will get some folks in the mood for...
Looks like we're going to have another friend in Chambersburg PA, Matt is a great guy, very helpful, and actually seems to care about the material he is selling there. He also hinted that he will be bringing some stuff down to Aberdeen to auction off there from that site.
Took a ride in the deuce from Front Royal VA up to Chambersburg PA today to pick up my new trailer. It will soon be stripped down into its components - the genset is going to be fixed, the trailer is going to AMG, and someone else has already called for all the laundry equipment...
How do old helicopters, like the Hueys and light duty stuff get surplussed out? I know they do, because there are a number of civilian and commercial users of these old helos, including the logging industry, police, crop dusters and fire fighters, sightseers and warbird collectors. I just...
Just went to email someone a couple manuals - problem is most email services only allow files up to a certain size. Most of these .pdf Govt. manuals are HUGE, and easily surpass that limit.
Is there an upgrade to the site in the works that would allow us to once again upload manuals to this...
Not the one on the mall in D.C., but rather the newer facility near Dulles Airport. This is a HUGE indoor facility, cost is free to go inside, but $15 to park (goes toward facility operations). LOTS of really neat displays, from the dawn of flight to today, covering commercial aircraft...
I know Soni's fantastic builds have been featured here before, but I found some pictures on fourwheeler.com that weren't shared here yet. It's a great build for those who love large MVs...
It started out life as a M920 tractor, he put an S-250 shelter on the back for a sleeper unit, and added...
I just noticed on their website that the price of 3/4-ton trailers has dropped 50% to $500. He has a bunch of M101 series trailers, some with antenna mast racks and other accessories like side racks, bows, etc.
The torchmen seem bored and are cutting things up indiscriminately, so if you have...
Will begin a reference for those out there who need to know how high the lunette is on the front of common trailers, in order to help out with the recovery of surplus trailers when they pick them up, or just for basic transport reference.
M100 1/4 ton - 23 to 26 inches
M416 1/4 ton - 23 to 26...
Went to the Timonium hamfest this past weekend in Maryland. There was a gent there from Ontario Surplus, had a picture of a GMC deuce and a half, sign read "FOR SALE IN NE OHIO, $500" He said it ran not long ago, but needs fuel pump and starter work. He says it has typical rust for 60 year...
Wondering if anyone has ever gone to the trouble to install a big truck air ride suspension on their deuce. This would be the black balloon-looking air bags that are used on big rigs above the main springpacks to soften the ride.
Going up to Coleman's yard again on Friday with ShieldWolf37. I plan on picking up the following:
any towbars or towbar-related items (feet, pins, etc.)
any boarding ladders
winch I saw sinking into the ground in the back
wrecker spade bars - saw a pair back there last time
items I know...
Mounted jatonka's spin on oil filter adapters a while back. However, when I installed them, I misplaced the gaskets that go between the adapters and the engine block. I used a set of oddball gaskets that I had laying around and mooshed them into fit, and torqued the adapters down. Worked...
Wanna take a trip to TNJ Murray's in the next couple days. Anyone need anything from there? I am willing to bring to Aberdeen/Haspin for no charge. Well, maybe a beer would be nice....
