If you had a truck like mine you could store them on a pallet underneath and the slow, but steady stream of petrochemicals landing on them would prevent any rust issues.

how much open space is there between the fifth wheel and and the rear of the stuff behind the cab(tool box, spare, etc)? is it the same for all mil tractors?

I have kept the chain on my front mounted winch painted with the same paint as the truck. I don't know if it is "correct", but the areas that rub keep themselves clean and the paint protects the rest.

My tcase pto does not have an interlock. Bjorn raises a good point on rpm's . What happens to the dump mechanism when the pump stops(you push in the clutch)? Does it have some type of load holding valve that will keep it up?

It was the hose itself. The hoses are extremely age checked which allowed water to rust the metal reinforcement. For all I know these could be the original hoses from 1972. I'm thinking my full vertical extension the other day stressed the already weakened hoses by flexing them further than...
