At least I didn't get outbid on these.....

I was down at Hueco Tanks and then over to Cruces a few weeks ago - I love that area.

    So How About Heim Ends?

RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: So How About Heim Ends? Hi Tom, I'd have concerns about longevity from mud and grit. I also like to, when making suspension links for vehicles that see the road, use a heim (Spherical Rod End/SRE) on one side, and then something that will absorb some impact loads on the...

    CAT 3208 demil

Could you please tell me when you see a running 3208 in a truck for 1500? ;)

Any one else want a .52 over drive? Less than a grand?!

BTW, trying to solder wires outside that are the same temp as the 20 degrees ambient... doesn't work so well. ;)

Any one else want a .52 over drive? Less than a grand?!

Spicer, Good stuff - that would be great. I still need to craft an email to my friend for more info. His email is on my work machine, which I've been avoiding.... I'm on a 10 day vacation. :) Best, Bob

Any one else want a .52 over drive? Less than a grand?!

Hi Tom, They indeed are HUGE trannies - about the size of a Chevy V6 motor, to be honest, with a nearly commensurate weight. Without going to so far as to speak for HRD, I'd say that this type of option really only suits a repower, where you're already messing around with mounts and tcases...

Any one else want a .52 over drive? Less than a grand?!

Ok, that is EXACTLY the stuff I need - thanks! I most likely have a source for extra gear clusters, so I can probably do this without screwing up the splits (not that this is a big problem either, since you just have so many gears in these trannies). Fantastic work, again. I was thinking I'd...

Any one else want a .52 over drive? Less than a grand?!

Hi HRD, So Spicergear and I have been brainstorming about this very subject, and I've been also doing heaps of research on these trannies. Now, which gears are you swapping? My research also shows that these twin countershaft trannies are twin for redundancy, essentially. I mean to say that...

    hyd power steering info

RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: hyd power steering info Hey Spicer, thanks for the feedback. I hadn't thought of using an axle-mounted ram - but it makes plenty sense! This is far off in the project mix, but I may get there late 08 or so. BTW, on the buggy that I might actually finish one day, I have...

Best extremely-high vis LED turn lamp for front fender?

The title says it all. My stock low-profile lamp is corroded beyond use, and I'd like to transition to something with much higher visibility (preferably, a tower with excellent front-side-back visibility). Thanks Bob

Deuce Arctic Heater Info Compilation Thread

Bjorn, that is absolutely fantastic. I have a webasto air heater thing here that I intend to use as a combo block/cabin heater, and darn if I can't find a control module. I suppose I can wire the fan to a SPDT switch with one pole going to a resistor to slow the fan (for startup), and then...

Deuce Arctic Heater Info Compilation Thread

Hey guys, Could anyone be so kind as to post a quick description of how these run? Meaning, (on the convection ones) does the fan come on first, and then the fuel runs for a bit, and then the ignitor come on? Also, what is the shutdown sequence? Pure observation would work for me. Also, do...

Thoughts on overdrive.... has the tcase been looked at?

Muy barbaro, amigo! I really appreciate the detail and description. If nothing else, I am happy to cross this off the list of potential projects. :)

Thoughts on overdrive.... has the tcase been looked at?

My apologies for being unclear. I am wondering if anyone has put thought into creating another gearset for the stock M35 transfer case, to raise the gear ratio (numerically lower the ratio) for high gear. I bring up the fabco case only for reference. Best, Bob

Thoughts on overdrive.... has the tcase been looked at?

RE: Re: Thoughts on overdrive.... has the tcase been looked Well, this is just a brainstorm and an open question, so I wouldn't have the foggiest about cost to put gears together.. if they are just gears woodruff'ed onto a shaft, it wouldn't be bad, but an entire new input or output gear/shaft...

Thoughts on overdrive.... has the tcase been looked at?

RE: Re: Thoughts on overdrive.... has the tcase been looked My thoughts exactly. I like these cases - they're syncro'd, easy to shift, and work great even on pavement at speed. If someone had the gumption to put together a .80 high-range or something, even with my extensive mods, I'd still...

Thoughts on overdrive.... has the tcase been looked at?

So I'm sitting here, watching the BoSox get closer to sweeping the Rocks, and I'm searching on tcases because it's been too long since I've been in the garage. Check out the specs on the 1702 tcase by fabco: http://fabcoautomotive.com/products/fs_twospeed.htm...

Thinking About Getting a Deuce. Couple questions....

RE: Re: RE: Thinking About Getting a Deuce. Couple question When I was still thinking about hauling my buggy with my deuce, I designed some ramps that would permit me to load it without bottoming out. I guess, actually, that the ramps would also allow me to load the ZJ I had built up at the...
