Yep I used xylene and it went great. At 4-1 mix you would really have to try hard to make it run. The 1 thing I noticed on this paint is you need to do at least 4 good coats.
GCI24087 thins 4-1. It sprayed great. When it first went on it looked really brown but by the time I got around to reassembling the truck and paint cured some it litened up alot. I really like the 24087 look there's not enough trucks around in their original color.:-D
No jay- I'm not selling. Way too much time and sweat in this one. I have gotten kinda attached to this one. The 5 ton will have to wait unless someone has a really nice m818 with a deuce bed on it or something like that for a trade! I'm finally getting some use out of the fresh engine uncle Sam...
depending on the number of parts you may need vs the cost of a good used one I'd go with the used one. Strange that it comes and goes I wander about release bearing coming apart or something in the area.
Just my 2 cents C.T.
Finally got the truck done a few days ago. After 3.5 mos. of tearing down -sandblasting-priming - painting-going through axles all the brakes allnew cylinders seals etc. And then finally putting it all back together again. I need a new tailgate but other than that I'm happy with it. Ran out of...
DO you think these readings are ok? I'm kind of parenoid about the gauge being in the red. Also I unhook the positive terminal between the 2 batts. when I park the truck for more than a couple of days to help keep it in the spot I put it does anyone think this will harm the electrical system...
finally figured out that my alternator wasn't charging. Checked voltage on alt and at batteries and only 23.4 vlt. I cleaned grounds at alt and all batt connections and nothing. Searched past post and found where doghead revived a couple of alternators by adjusting that magic screw that I didn't...
I just finished my frame off resto. I didnt pull engine though it was a fresh rebuild when I picked it up at GL in aug. What a job. I think it was worth all the time sandblasting scraping replacing all axle seals shoes bearings wheel cyls-tranny and transfer seals and all the other stuff. But...
I've been driving my deuces and 5 tons here in nc for years and like last year I left out to go hunting one sat. morning in the deuce and it was 16 deg.f and after a few miles down the road i was good to go with just a sweatshirt. there's plenty of heat coming through the firewall and floorboard...
I personally saw that setup working some months ago and yes it was running on 110. it was being powered with a 5kw military genset. It all worked great. I may have some bulbs I will give you that I in the past used to use in my garages here at home but have since switched to a hi output...
I think I get what hvann is wanting to do but my thought is what about the rotation of the spring package as it is originally intended todo. I would definately go with the front spring package for safety and reliability. just my 2 cents.
