    A 3rd Deuce Overdrive Tranny?

There's no room behind the stock tranny for a ranger or brownie, unless you move the transfer case way back. I just picked up a .65 OD spicer. I should have it in in a couple of weeks, assuming the coffee store doesn't run out of fresh beans. I'll let you guys know how it does. Cheers Bob

    M35A2 fuel mileage

Ach. Hopefully you're not looking at the same auctions I am, here in CO at Fort Cartoon. I AM SORELY TEMPTED TO PURCHASE ANOTHER deuce although that's a real bad idea, I know this much! :) It would be so cool to totally turn one into a carhauler, though, and keep one as the stock PU bed. I...

    M35A2 fuel mileage

By the way, it would be pretty cool to the right kid, though. I would have wet myself to have had that thing as my DD in HS. :)

    M35A2 fuel mileage

I like the big vehicle plan except for a few details. Number one is the single braking circuit. These things have non redundant brakes, so unless that is remedied, I've have reservations about this especially with someone with only a surface knowledge about the nuances of braking (as opposed to...

    Pulling the buggy

I think the real trick to accomplish will be to ffit the Spicer 6855 .695-OD tranny INTO the deuce. Should be doing that swap in about a month - I cannot WAIT WAIT WAIT to have a solid, powerful deuce! :) Cheers Bob

    M35A2 fuel mileage

The problem is that the thing just runs out of gearing. You get up to 2600 and then after that you feel like you're going to put a piston into orbit. You can swap in a lower OD tranny (very hard) or put on 11.00x20 tires to get faster speeds. As I learned, the issue is not power. It's not...

    Pulling the buggy

Just for fun, and the engine is a 94 Caprice LT1. Something like 280 hp stock or something ridiculous. Beefed up 4L60e tranny, 2 tcases, and of course, rockwells and 53's. :) Still got some small issues, but otherwise I'm real happy. Cheers Bob

    Pulling the buggy

I think this speaks for itself. http://www.planetbantz.com/imghost/bob/P1300010sm.jpg Don't try to nitpick on what's wrong here or you'll drive yourself crazy. Ratchetstrapped-in gastank and no harnesses or seatbelts on the buggy, no towlights, you name it. I had just got it running and...

New guy to SS, my deuce mods so far..*pics*

Hey DR, The turbo for the 3208 sits on the back of the engine, laterally in the middle of the intake manifold and between the back ends of the valve covers. It's all the way aft on the engine, and has dual exhaust inputs. SO, if you want to put the cat turbo on, you basically end up having...

air shift or part time conversion for sprag

Hey Tom, I got a guy feverishly looking for brakes for the front axle. Drop me an email to ..... if you have a solution you'd be interested in selling. Cheers Bob

air shift or part time conversion for sprag

Hey Tom dude I made rear brakes for the rockwell. Fronts are still hard (as you know). Got any F250 or F350 dually, 2wd Pherds sitting around you? Good. Now grab the rotors, the calipers, the brake lines (because you, I mean, me, are cheap!), and the CALIPER stands. Go get new brake slider...

    m35a2 questions/repower

Thanks for the interest, but I actually just received a call this morning from a gentleman who's interested in the whole running takeout, so I'll be doing that in February, as soon as I spitpolish my rockcrawler and prep the 3208. Cheers Bob

Hrm - I might just have to change out the clutch anyway. What's the "angle" on cheap clutches for these applications? Any online sources, or should I just suck it up and hit a driveline shop? I am thinking of just making an exhaust brake. I figure I can use an emergency brake can from an...

Wheel Adapter? *hope this hasn't been recent..."

Hey Tom, I'd just recenter your wheels - have the existing centers cut out and new centers welded in. PS Combat wheels are awesome! Bob

New guy to SS, my deuce mods so far..*pics*

Tom, Thank you so much for the excellent reply. If I don't have to lift the cab and or futz with the steering, I'm way ahead of the game. And yes, from what I can see, the 6855 is a bit longer than the 3053A, so that will help as well! Just for reference, the desire to turbo comes from the...

anyone got a snapped rear axleshaft?

Hey Mike, I just built a machine with the 16r20's and a 290HP Lt1 Chevy 350. Let's hope I don't have your same experience. Good to see another rockwell wheeler on here. :) Cheers Bob

Sweet! I'll hopefully be doing this very soon. I have about a week left of work to get the crawler project running and driving, and once that's done, I am doing the same swap, albeit with a 6855 .695 OD tranny on the back of the 3208 (just got the tranny Dec 18th!!!). So, where does the...
