air system really sufficient for impact use?

So, as with any flow question, the answer is "maybe". The pressure gets there, and there's decent reserve with the tank(s). The deuce compressor will certainly build enough pressure, but the question is how long you can run at pressure? For me, it's enough with the reserve. I've used my deuce...

test drive results, desplined flanges/removed axle

You could probably pick up double splined axles from Ouverson Engineering: http://www.ouversonengineering.com/ These allow you to use front drive plates on the rear axle with some beefy axles, so this would work with lockouts. Cheers Bob

Purchase of new M35A2C from Goverment Liquidation

By the way, the only way I made the long drive was a combination of the following: 1. Ear bud earphones connected to an MP3 player 2. And ballistic quality ear muffs. Bob

Purchase of new M35A2C from Goverment Liquidation

That engine compartment looks sweet as, and no worries about the big long drive. I did 1400 in mine in a push when I picked up mine from GL in Selfridge AFB (N or detroit) and drove it back to Boulder, but I'm a young guy and fairly hale. Man, I love my deuce. Buying it was one of the craziest...

    m35a2 questions/repower

Where are you located? After the New year, I'm going to pull my old diesel engine. If you're interested and you want to start with mine, I'd happily swap for a few extra dollars...

    Snow run opportunity this weekend!

No Way! I was in the garage last night TIG'ing together a stainless fuel cell. The temp outside was 5º - funny how I didn't want to work on the inside-the-garage jobs until now. ;) Bob

    Snow run opportunity this weekend!

Alas the roads stayed clear. I gotta wait until the BIGGUN hits and then go hit some parking lots to do the snowy skidpad test with the NDT's!

anybody know offhand the lugnut size/pitch?

    Snow run opportunity this weekend!

Yipaa! Big storm comin through, gotta haul the last remains of my chevy pickup to the dump! Unfortunately, I also have to weld a firewall onto my custom frame and it doesn't fit in the garage, but that said, I am excited about running around in the deuce! First snow run for my baby! Thought you...

Brake debate!!! Full air or retrofit stock system?

For sure, I totally understand. However, the necessary lateral distance between the two setups would mean that I'd be so hosed for space. I could make a VERY long connector rod with a pivot on the other frame rail and adjust bias this way, but serious pita. Plus, I have the other pure air...

Brake debate!!! Full air or retrofit stock system?

    1. I've made my own disk brake systems for the deuce axles. I don't need Daniel at USA 6x6 to source out any for me. :) 2. The idea of using 2 stock M/c's, with physical linkages to run the brakes is HELLACIOUS. Linkage systems, as you know, suck to design. I am loathe to design and then build...

Brake debate!!! Full air or retrofit stock system?

So, I am now focussing my attention on putting the new brakes on the deuce. I just got a quote to get some new radials on the beast, and now I'm looking for ideas for the brakes. I have the option to do one of to things: 1. Pull out the stock brakes ENTIRELY and just run completely air-driven...

Transfer case parking brake retainer spring size.

Just in case anyone goes and has to replace the shoes on their transfer case mounted parking brake, and the little wire seperator at bottom is broken, you want to make two, roughly 17/32" [or slightly larger than 1/2"] holes in about ~14 ga plate 2.5" apart from one another to recreate this...

what do you do to fit radials on your truck?

    1. They were the reigning technology! 2. They are capable of being changed in the field. Um, no. I mean, you could WELD the ring on after assembly, but that's it. I actually did this on my rockcrawler, running M35 rims. Not...

what do you do to fit radials on your truck?

One of these days I'll swap on the new wheels I got onto the deuce. There are plenty of one piece, 6 hole budd wheels out there with the 6 on 8.75 pattern. Most are 20's, fewer are r22.5, but they exist. Anyway, just a heads up. Split rims scare the beheezie out of me so they're getting the...

5 ton bogie arms and springs?

So, um, what's the spacing on the 5 ton arms? Could we use these for spacing out the rear axles a bit? I wonder if we could also use the same bottom leaf for the leaf pack. Someone want to do some measuring for me? Cheers Bob
